MK VII source, yet another one! (Sept. 2003)

Post by Swindiana »

I told you I wouldn't stop digging and here is another source I've found.

The seller has 50 bags in stock, some MK VI's included and so I'm not sure how many of them are actually MK VII ones, yet. (It sounded like it could be half of them.)
They are unissued although very dusty from being stored 60 years he says.
Definition below:
New: Unused in battle, dusty from storage, possibly light scratches.
Neither of them have black stripes and they are $14 located in the USA.

The last time it worked out pretty well with you guys sending me a PM for the info. I've told the seller that others might be interested and he seemed fine with it.

-This is an obsession, Dad. I've never understood it. Never. Neither did Mom.
-Ah... Bag it!

Let me know if you're interested.

Regards,

Lars

Sent off my cashier's check today for one! I spoke with Sam on the phone, and he said he had been "swamped" by requests from Indiana Jones fans. There are 2 grades of bags...$20 for the pristine ones, $14 for the others + $8 shipping.

It's probably a good thing not to mention Indy in the future, should I dig up another source.

Thanks Swindiana, my check is sent. Dirt cheap. Sam told me they're all musty and will need a two day wash. He also said they aren't green even though I said 'olive'. He said they're more of a tannish green, so we'll see. Either way, they're cheap as he!!!

No worries guys!

Grade 1 is mint, Grade 2 is new but dusty as in unissued and not used in battle.

After getting a response from this guy, I realized that he is the same one that someone else posted about, and was tring to sell these bags last year for $70 a piece. Guess he got desperate!

His desperation....our gain! Hopefully, I will be receiving my Mk. VII "grade 2" bag this coming week. I want mine to have a little "character" to it....my WPG bag is pristine.

$20! Gawd Dang! I ended up buyin a NH bag a l'il while ago, and it has that dreaded black line along the bottom!!

I got it with strap attached, too, so dunno HOW to clean it off. (I recall prev. posts about this, so will haveta do some searchin in the archives)

I can't imagine WHY there are so many Mark VII's poppin up lately with these black lines?? I bought an EBay Mark VII with the mask a while ago, and it was PERFECT in every way! I also noticed, tho, that the NH version has removed the devider between the two front pockets, to make the rear pocket ono big one, instead of two half-pockets. OK..now an Idol will fit in the bag, but with the black mark, I can't use it as an 'Indy bag', it's gunna be for practical day-to-day use, over the Mark VI I usta use. Oh, well...can't winem all.

From what I understand the black line was put there for training purposes in order to divide the men in two teams, it didn't have any use in actual battle. My bag has the stripe on both the front and on the back which really didn't fill a purpose as the bag was carried with the snaps facing in. I think that is why some bags only have the stripe on what we would say is the inside of the Indy bag.

Just a little info!

By the way Gater, you can always use a drill to get rid of the rivets and replace them with Chicago screws. That way you can remove the strap whenever you want to.

Lars
