I know it sounds like a waste of space type of question, but I have just got hold of an original 1941 MKVII Gas Mask bag and I am concerned that rain down pours is going to damage it; shrink it, distort the shape, and have everything in the bag soaked.
Whats your feed on this question?
Paul
Is the MKVII Gas mask bag water proof?

If you want to actually make it water resistant, you could get a can of Barbour 'thornproof' wax and treat it with that.
IT WILL GET MUCH DARKER and have a, well, waxy feel to it. BUT, water will not get through.
I am considering getting another bag and treating it this way. Not scren accurate, but VERY usefull...
Also, there is another spray, I think BETTER than ScothcGuard (and cheaper) available at Wally World that I use on my winter gear. I don't know the brand, but it is in a bright orange can and is in the camping department. It is mainly silicone, but it works well! Color will return to normal (or very slightly darker) overnight.
