Measurements and Sizing -- Wested Questions

Post by indycurtis »

I finally got myself to a tailor to have myself measured to see what size jacket I'd best fit into, or what I'd need for a custom order, and this is what I came up with...

Height: 5' 10.5"
Chest: 39"
Shoulder (Full): 18.5"
Shoulder (Half): 7"
Sleeve Length: 25.5"
Back Length: 21.5"
Jacket Size: ?

None of these measurements seems to sit that close to any of the "standard measurements" for the Wested OTR jackets, so I'm a little concerned. Do you have any help/advice/input? Do they sound right? What should I do?

I'm shooting for a Raiders style goat jacket.

KT Templar, Holt, if you guys could weigh in. You seem to be jacket ordering experts. :D

Thanks!

Sounds fairly close to my measurements... Between you and I, an off-the-rack size 40 should fit you fine, with just enough screen-accurate 'bagginess' for a Raiders.

Of course, if it's a more trim fit you're after, something closer to a biker jacket perhaps, then I would suggest you send them those exact measurements for a more LC fitting jacket.

LC Fit

Was the LC a tighter fit?
CS if definitely on the baggier side. Or at least a bigger feeling jacket.

Well, that's really just my personal opinion, but go back and watch the movies and decide for yourself would be my best advice, since the picture on screen speaks differently to different gearheads... ;)

If you think the KotCS jacket is baggy, then take this side by side comparison shot with the Raiders jacket for example:

Now for my personal argument about the jacket being not only baggy, but longer as well, I won't go into it in detail, since I've done that on this thread:

Suffice to say, compare these two sets of photos from Raiders and LC:

Hope this might help!

Blow my mind!

Post by indycurtis »

Wow!
You're right! I never realized. I always thought that the later jackets were bigger, because they seemed bulkier. But they're actually more fitted, so it must just have been Harrison bulking up! lol
--If there was a blow-my-mind emoticon, it would be here right now.

I have read the longer argument, and it definitely makes me feel good about ordering and OTR 40. I'm thinking about going with the special order raiders, and I think that a 40 should be just about right.

This helped a lot! Thanks!
