Florida Lotto 'U.S. Wings' jacket alert

Post by Michaelson »

I just got off the phone with David Hack this minute.

If you'll recall (and at this moment I can't find the thread. If someone finds it, please post a link in this thread), it was brought to our attention a week or so ago that there was a 'U. S. Wings" jacket as one of the prizes from the Florida Lottery commission in connection with their Indiana Jones game.

To date, there have been 2000 jackets released to the public throught that venue, and a lot of them are showing up on ebay.

BEWARE!!

David tells me he JUST found out about this, and the jacket is NOT a Wings jacket. It is, to quote David, "JUNK!!!" Wings had nothing to do with this jacket, or this deal.

They are pursuing actions at this time regarding this situation, so don't be fooled by any ebay auctions or sales of a 'new Wings jacket' that comes from this Florida Lottery. You will be completely disappointed, and fooled into buying something that just isn't so.

So says Sgt. Hack of U. S. Wings!

Florida lotto "U.S. Wings" Jacket alert

Michaelson, is this the previous thread you mentioned?

viewtopic.php?t=31965

Also, here is the link to the Florida prize information per COW member "mlars11" from that thread.

http://secondchance.flalottery.com/seco ... /prizes.do

"Sgt Hack" may have heard the news from a Mr. Myke Redpath, the General Manager from U.S. Wings for I actually emailed U.S. Wings concerning confirmation of the jacket earlier this morning. Mr. Redpath contacted me concerning my inquiry where I notified him of the Florida lottery prize package being listed on Ebay as either the entire package or portions of the package, such as the jacket, being listed.

That's the one, thanks!

I, too, sent him an email the night this showed up, but according to David, he got none of the emails. He only found out about it when Lori, his store manager, called him today after getting a phone call herself. I bet she was talking about your email rather than a phone call.

Wish he had seen those emails when this happened. It wouldn't have gone on as long as it has. :(

Very interesting! So the jackets are not US Wings, can it be determined if they are really Lucasfilm licensed? And also is that lottery legit?

Are the jackets being made by Wings' former China suppliers?

On the licensing, that I don't know, KT.

The lottery is indeed the official FLorida Lottery. That's what has everyone shaking their heads!

He did say they are Chinese, but have nothing to do with his company. so I don't believe it was the supplier he's used in the past.

Interesting! I picked up a pamphlet the other day and noticed that the Indiana Jones Tennessee Lottery pieces also offer the US Wings jacket as a prize. I wonder if they are the same? I was considering giving it a shot.

Just in from David Hack:
Please post!! and ask if there are any other state lottery that are doing the same thing!! " made of genuine cowhide leather and lined with nylon, this brown leather jacket was handcrafted exclusively by U.S. Wings" This is a false statement. These jackets are made in China and has the Indiana Jones TM label inside them.. NOT US Wings and not made by US Wings Inc.
Again please post for all this will do is bring down the Fan club I love.
Regards,
Sgt. Hack

What's also annoying is that the Tenn website states they are offering the same "leather satchel Indy had strapped across his chest".

I might not be an expert on Indy gear, but isn't the Mark VII bag made of cotton duck?

To be fair though, they don't say it's the same kind of satchel, just that it is "just the right size", whatever that's supposed to mean.
What did Indy keep in that little leather bag, strapped across his chest? What would you keep in yours? This mini-messenger bag is just the right size – not bulky, yet big enough for your essentials. Made of genuine brown leather that is supple, yet thick and tough enough to withstand any adventure your day may bring. Heavily padded shoulder strap ensures comfort. Several outer pockets are perfect for cell phone, keys, music devices and sunglasses. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull™ logo embossed on front.

You would think a lottery would have better prizes than knock-off US Wing jackets and DP... That satchel is probably pleather and the shirt has the tiniest Indy logo of all time!

Sorry if I am insulting anyone in the lottery prize-picking business here, but if I won the second chance lottery, I would expect a little more than this.

What I find interesting about this, and I have to agree with Robby here, is that even for a "second-chance lottery", the pickings do like rather... pathetic. I mean, it wouldn't be so bad if they offered a gift pack of ALL the above items together as ONE prize, but separating them like that is just... I mean, why even bother.

That's how I took notice of the US Wings listing. I was looking through the items and was thinking "Garbage. Garbage. Garbage. ....oh wait a US Wings jacket? That's pretty good..."

There's one right now on fleabay that ends in a few hours. Two bids at $99.99.

Even though it might be a knock off, it someone got it for under $100 it would probably be good for distressing as it looks ok in the photos.

There's a photo of the tag and it clearly says Made in China.

I sure won't be bidding...
