It's just arrived.....My Todds standard!

Post by IndianaBogart »

So I got home this afternoon and what's waiting for me. I brown box from California. When I opened it, what did I find. My new Todd's standard jacket. :D It's awesome. It fits perfectly - very 'Raiders'. After reading here, I was afraid that it would seem very thin and flimsy, but I can say that it exceeded my expectations. It drapes very, very well just like the Raiders jacket. Overall, I love it and think it's a great jacket. As far as it's durability, only time will tell. But I think with proper care, it should last me a long time. And I know: "This thread is worthless without pics!"

Well, "All good things to those who wait". They're coming.

Congrats on your new jacket. I have been thinking on it too.
How does it feel? I mean the weight and thickness and such. Some people make it seem like it's made of paper, others that it is not really all that thin, i mean not armor but you know what I mean.
I can't wait to see pics. take lots with detail close ups. Pleeease?

I read that Todd was going to use a different hide than before. Is yous one of the new hides?

Thanks whipcracker. I would definitely get one of these if I were you. It feels fairly thick. I've never owned a Wested, etc. so I have nothing to compare it to. But it seems much thicker and more substantial than I was expecting. I definitly wouldn't say that it feels like it's made out of paper, but I also wouldn't drag behind a truck in it either. I can tell already that it will be a great jacket for everyday wear once the weather is cooler, but I don't think I would do any sort of extensive manual labor in it. As far as the weight, it will make a great light-weight jacket in the fall, and probably even a great jacket in the winter when worn over others layers. Basically, if you take care of it (not "baby" it) but not try to tear it up either, then I think you should have no problems with it.

I've also read that wearing the jacket in the rain and then letting it dry, not only helps to add a natural distressed look, but also somehow makes the leather seem more dense, and therefore, more durable. But I've just HEARD this. I've not yet tried it.

And as far as the different hide, I had not heard about that, so I'm guessing that mine is made out of the same hide as all the other.

(And I should have pics up soon.)

An excellent choice! It will feel like "more" of a leather jacket after a month of wind and rain, but you gotta be pretty tough to do that this time of year!

I'm very happy with my Todd's standard. VERY "Raiders" in feel, color and weight. The fit was great too.

Thanks Weston. You're a big reason I decided to buy the jacket. I saw your pics of it, especially the ones after it had been rained on, and I thought that it looked great. I'm hoping for a good rain in the next day or so so that I can start to get a little natural distressing on mine.

I know McFly, everybody wants to see pics. I'm getting ready to leave for work right now, so hopefully I'll be able to take some pictures of it later this afternoon when I get home. (by the way, I liked your Indy character 'this thread is worthless without pics' emoticon)

Congratulations IndianaBogart on your jacket. Looking forward to some pictures. After about a month, it will start forming more to your shape. I was surprised how well it drapes and the arms wrinkle. For the price, definitely a winner from Todd. :D

:D Thank you very much! I made a whole set of new emotes based on the ones here at COW, and they were supposed to be made the official ones here, but I think they got forgotten. Image

That looks great IB ! Nice fit, what are your personal basic measurements and what size is the jacket. Also, how about a pic or two of the leather close up, as it's supposed to be a little "more leathery" looking than the previous standard's. Congrats!

Looks like a perfect fit to me. I don't think you could have done better with a custom jacket!

Thanks Weston! Yeah, it does fit almost (if not exactly) perfectly.

Yep seacrow, I love this thing. I've hardly stopped wearing it.

Doug C, the jacket is a medium. I don't really remember my measurements, but they were almost exactly the same as the ones on Todds size chart. I'm 5'9" and 130lbs. if that helps.

Thanks very much scot2525!

And Vegeta, if you're in the market for a new jacket, this jacket is great. And from Weston says in this thread ( viewtopic.php?t=30731&highlight=todds ), the jacket seems to get MORE, durable with wear (rain, etc.)
