Magnoli/Wested/Noel Howard Pants Comparison Pics...

Post by Falstaff »

I just received my Magnoli Adventure Pants Friday and thought I'd post some comparison pictures of the 3 pairs of Indy pants I own. From left to right there's Noel Howard's, Wested's, and finally Magnoli's. They're all great pants, but the Magnoli ones are a cut above. The stitching and general construction is fantastic, as with everything I've bought from him, and the colour is a little more Raider's SA IMHO. The fabric of Noel Howard's and Wested's is very similar, but Magnoli's Medium Weight Blend Wool Cashmere is nice and light. They're my favorite and would make a great warm weather pant. Indy would melt in the North African sun in Noel's or Wested's pants IMHO.

very nice falstaff...i didn't know that mags has got a twill offering. the weave looks comperable to the wested and nh's.

the IM's are made to measure as well so you get a superior fit........unless you're built like a mannequinn....

What color did you opt for on the Magnoli's? They look great. I really like that color. I never thought the NH or Wested color was very Raiders.

On the Wested site for the pants, the color looks *really* light, but in your pic they look like what I'm looking for. Is it true that with the Westeds you just have the one color choice and perhaps their photography on the site is bad? Here, on the site these look way too light:

To me, the Magnoli "Medium Brown" in the Medium Weight Blend Wool Cashmere [10 oz fabric] looks like a good SA color.

I'm starting to shop around for the pants now, and it's just amazing that there are such differences in pants that are each supposed to be "the Indy pants". ;-)

Just to let you know the Paris pants are the same color with the Magnoli's what you see above and they are 100% wool cavalry twill i.e. the real deal.

They're the Dark Khaki. In sun, they look very similar to any of the Cairo scenes to my eye. Inside, they look a little darker. By comparison, the darker Wested's look a little too dark all the time. But that may just be my personal preference.

thank you so much falstaff....its about time we got magnolis in there for comparison (at least its the first time ive seen a "side by side")!!! yes ive thought all along that most of the "raiders" pants offerings were too dark (unless compared with very dark indoor shots...ie: well of souls and opening temple). i think magnolis are DEAD ON! plus w/magnolis you get by far the best back pockets out there!

Image

but since i have this picture i was also wondering if anyone else thinks those pleats on indys jacket seem to be bellowing much like many here have complained about???

thanks for reading, JOA

PS-imo the quality and the SA make the MAGNOLI the BEST choice. also theyre completely made to measure. not to mention they are only about $10 more than the OTR wested pants. but magnolis price includes the s&h ....for the price its a steal!!!!

for the record i only have magnolis but i dont think ill try anything else!

Does anyone have an opinion as to what Magnoli color would be best for Last Crusade pants? The Magnoli's pictured here are great for raiders, but don't seem to be right for TLC.

Ok....I'll be the odd man out for discussion's sake....the Raiders pants have been described as a taupe-gray color. When I think of these pants, I think of the opening sequence when Indy tumbles out of the Temple, and is confronted by Belloq. You mentioned that these NH pants are basically too heavy to be worn in a warmer climate. Were they ever made using a lighter material?

I believe the NH pants and MBA pants were made from the exact same material as the screen used ones, weight and all, perhaps that's even true of the Westeds since the material was quite possibly sourced from the same place NH got his.

About the color for LC pants from Magnoli, well I think the ones pictures in this thread look like a pretty good match for that movie, more of a khaki than the darker colored pants from Raiders (NH,MBA,Wested).

The Magnoli pants get my vote - spot-on Raiders color and with the correct pocket
flaps as well. I'll definetly order a pair of those down the road. :junior:

I was also enamoured enough Of the SA pocket flaps to buy some and though I've been really happy with them I've been convinced that the colour is too light and that the NH's (despite how they look in pictures) are the true colour when movie lighting is factored into the equation...

Me in Magnoli's and the NH's on the mannequin behind...

Image

And Magnoli's in daylight. I always thought these looked just like the pants from the opening sequence...

Image

And these were the Wesed's which for some reason I never liked too much...

There was more contrast of colors between the pants and shirt in Raiders I thought.

FordPerfect's right. The Magnoli's have nice pockets but they're far too light. In the photo where he stands next to Chris King's mannequin, the shirt and pants almost MEET in colour.

Yep, I agree.. and though they're too light it's sort of in a grey slightly green way, not really in a LC way, though he may have a better khaki color for that.
