3 into 1 whip

Post by IndyWhips »

I popped along to the UKWhipCrack convention yesterday and met a fellow member from here Kooniu

He was an all round nice fella and very very talented with a whip with a leaning towards the martial arts/whip boxing style....

However the reason I've started this thread is that he had with him a 3 in 1 whip...a nylon whip that converted from bullwhip>snake whip> stock whip, very impressive, if he sees this thread hopefully it might prompt him to post a few pictures...

Whilst I appreciate this is an Indy board I know I'm not the only whipmaker that likes to see new designs and ideas...this'll be a thread for us whipmakers :D

Best Wishes

Tony

I can visualize it sorta...

If you have a stock whip that has a decorative turks head up near the keeper that connects the thong to the stock, and you add a little weight to that knot, you could remove the stock, and make it into a functional snake whip.

If you took said snake whip, and put a hollow flexible tubing at the core of the thong that ran all the way back to the turks head, and could insert some sort of rigid "Handle Foundation" into it, (and secure it, by possibly threading something at the end,) then you could have a functional bullwhip.

And based on a recent video that Kooniu posted with the stock functioning as a makeshift Atl Atl, you could make that rigid handle section for the bullwhip the projectile for the Atl Atl with a little creative engineering.

But, once again, this already FAR EXCEEDS what the Survival model from 21st Century Whips is doing in terms of just going to outlandish extremes that greatly effect functionality.

BUT, that said, experimentation with whacked out ideas can lead to some ABSOLUTELY GREAT outcomes.

Keep it up guys! And post pictures!

Forget everything I said sight-unseen about functionality. I take it all back.

Kooniu, that is one of the most clever ideas I've seen in a LONG time!

Keeps clutter down in your whip bag, and looks like it works equally well in all different configurations.

THAT would be a great tool for teaching how different types of whips behave. EXACT same thong given a COMPLETELY different feel by just adding and subtracting bits.

Good Job!

If I hadn't already ordered contact lenses and a new nylon bullwhip this month, I'd be asking what you'd want for one of those.

Aw heck...I'll ask anyway...How much would you want for one of those? :D :D

All the best,

That is brilliant! Super neat concept!
Do you find with extended use the screw connection loosens?
