Those of you waiting on or wanting a JPD!!!
Here are photos of my Jimmy Pierce. It's been sat on several times, boot kicked around, tossed, rained on, worn all over and generally abused. I love the way it looks and it just magically keeps getting better. I love my JPD!!!
WARNING:Before sitting on any fedora soften it by working it all over with your hands 1st to break up the stiffener. You will still get some wrinkles but can easily work them out by hand, I just rubbed/buffed mine out like waxing a car...

Any fedora will get wrinkles if you sit on it I imagine without 1st breaking up the stiffener. I found out the hard way when I sat on my Keppler without working/mashing it with my hands 1st. This time I worked the felt 1st then sat a few times on my JPD and the wrinkles came right out with a rubbing/buffing motion.
Thanks for the love on my JPD by the way!!!

Visit Lee's website, specifically his fedora page. Near the bottom of the page is his softening technique.IndianaBogart wrote:I don't mean to sound stupid, but just so I don't mess up my hat, how do you work the stiffener out of the felt?
Beautiful hat gabrielle. Is that black or charcoal gray (tough to tell). Also, JPD says they do custom hat bands as well...wondering if they'll do a black fed w/ white ribbon. I'd ask, but I don't have the money, lol.

I must say, that JPD has rumpled nicely. I really hope his business practices remain steady and reliable. My own experiences with him a while back were not so great, and I really lit a torch to that bridge But I am delighted to see so many happy customers turning up. Especially since he makes such nice hats. I'm a big fan of his bow work, and he's one of the few custom hatters that offers rabbit felt.

Wow! That is a beautiful fedora! My wife informed me a few days ago that I have on of these on the way. I can't wait! I really shouldn't read threads like this; it heightens the anticipation to a nearly unbearable level. The only reason I haven't mugged the mail carrier and ransacked his truck is because I don't know exaclty how or when Jimmy shipped it.
I guess I will just sit tight and make myself quit looking at these amazing hats! When it gets here, I'll post pics and let someone else be tortured.

Congrats on the hat you have on the way. It will be really something to compare them once you post photos. Mine has really softened up and shaped itself to my head now and I've messed with the bash until it seems perfect to me. I'm still working on the brim, but it's looking good!!!
I ordered the Raven Bar bash, do you know what you are getting??

AC, missed you buddy! You changed your Avatar and I didn't recognize you...
Welcome back and please post those JPD pics when yours arrives. I'm getting people frothing at the mouth for Jimmy and he deserves it. He went into the dark and came out the other side rearing to go if ya know what I mean.
I'm so happy his business is thriving. I'm going back for a beaver from him in either gray or natural...Idol Grab this time, with the turn.

Haven't tried that. I am a regular oval, but I'd be a little hesitant to pull the trigger on a hat smaller than 7 1/4 unless I could give that a shot before I ordered one that way. It's a good suggestion, though. I'm curious to see if it'd work.gabrielle wrote:Strider wrote:I can never ... EVER ... get my center dents that deep. My head pops them up. I envy you. Great looking JPD.
Hey Strider have you ever tried getting a smaller size and wearing it up more on your head? Or if you are a long oval don't get a long oval hat and that might work too.
