MK VII after the Wash

Post by floyd1977 »

Heres my MK VII from WPG after it went through the normal wash. As you can see the bag held up well but the strap was shredded by the valve on the side.

I washed one of mine, the most musty discolored one, in the sink last night, hot water with some OxyClean.. after 1/2 an hour, the water came out a gross greeny brown.. but the bag looks and smells better, and no damage to speak of :)

The bag looks great! I think its time for a leather strap though. :D

I just washed mine last night by hand in a plastic bucket. Warm water, a little woolite and a shot of bleach to kill the mold. I was expecting the water to be filled with dirt and grime but when I poured the water out, it was perfectly clean! Amazing for such on old relic.

What about the area where the rings are attached to the bag? How did they come out?

I have one on the way...I wanted to use it as a bookbag. Anyone use it frequently for things that weigh a bit like that? If so, how's it holding up?

The rings seem to be firmly attached but Im guessing that if the strap got wrapped about the bag enough to shred the strap like that it must have pulled the rings quite a bit. I would recomend that the strap is removed before putting it in the washing machine!
I have a leather strap on order from Todds but I also ordered a shirt so everything is on back order. Hopefully it will ship soon so I can start using the bag....
