Yes, the Fed IV is an open crown hat.

-VERY easy to do. -and they're very forgiving and reshapeable if you don't like what you've got.

yeah- somebody smarter than me will post it with pictures, I'm sure.

To describe it, put the hat on your head, 'karate chop' it dead center, longways, creasing it. Take off the hat, then usin g acrab-claw motion, with your hand, pinch the front. Bend the front of the brim down, and Voila!
Indy bash. Now, you'll have to tweak it a bit, but this is the basic way you do it. Tight long crease for Raiders look, tight crease at the top only for LC/CS look.
If your Fed 4 is a little stiff, or resistant, put on a pot of water to boil, and hold it over the steam. Just a little is all it takes. The felt will turn into play-doh. When you get the part your working on where you like it, hold it for a secondwhile it cools, it'll stay that way.
Some people have just used cold water in a sprayer, but depending on howmuch stiffner is in your hat's felt batch, you'll probably want the steam. I always did.
Don't worry, if you mess it upor don't like it, just pop it out and start over!

If i were you I'd avoid both steam and water and try to bash it dry. Worked just fine for me and much easier to undo any misshapes...

Josh,

don't hard-crease it until you'r happy with it.

The initial bash is simple and fun. But you'll tweak
it over time here and there.

I used that one too, and I like how my hat came out.
