Finally, a whip holder that won't open by itself...
Found this awesome whip holder at www.thewhipstudio.com . It's got a turnbuckle and won't open unless you want it to. Perfect for when you don't need a quick-release.
yeah, for a good whip holder, I really recommend this guy: http://hometown.aol.com/whipartist/Holster.html
Works like a charm. :junior: -M

It comes with what is known as a coil keeper, and I DOES NOT work itself loose!

I did get the coil keeper, but the fit in the holder is nice and tight as it is. It takes a lot to make it work its way loose as is, and if it does, I'll add the coil keeper.

Gery sort of based the design on the ones from Western Stage Props, (which he used to have and had the same complaints.)
These were also used in "The Rundown," (both Gery and Paul Nolan were watching the movie, and in the middle of it Gery called out, "Hey! That's my holster!" followed by Paul calling out, "Hey! That's my whip!")
I have two of these, and love them. And if you use them without the coil keeper as Falstaff is, you can literally do bullwhip fast draw with them. Kinda like a thumb-break holster for a whip.

You know, that whip holder just reminded me of something...
REN FAIR MUG HOLDERS!
Those leather carriers we all have to hold our mugs! Every ren fair I've ever been to has had at least one, if not 2-4 leather workers making these things. So if you are near a fair and want something ultra-customized, hit up a leather worker and see what they can do. They usually have a lot of colored leather and stamps and punches, as well as a variety of snaps, latches, and hooks. I bet most of them could whip one up that day, or mail it to you later. Plus with folks carrying around swords and whatnot, it is one of the few places you could carry a bullwhip and not get looks

Actually you'd be surprised at the number of people at Ren Faires who give you funny looks for carrying around bullwhips.
This from people wearing vampire teeth, fairy wings and elf ears...
Jeez...
Though it's funny when the Goth Ren-Rats look at you and go, "Dude, what the <INSERT EXPLETIVE > are you supposed to be?" and you look up at them from your under your broad-brimmed hat and let your highwayman coat flow out a little and say,
"Haven't you kids ever seen "Castlevania?"
Then you flick the turnbuckle on the holster open and say, "Nice Teeth..."
Good Bullwhip: $400
Linen Highwayman Coat: $250
Admission to the Renaissance Faire: $10
Freaking the bejeezus out of some Adolescent Anne Rice Wannabe: Priceless....
Remember folks, Spay your Catgrrl!

I had a NH whip holder which never worked for me - after 2 steps the whip was lose. In the end I had to use the fall to tie the whip tight itself and then put it into the holder, in which is slid around.
However I got one from Whipartist and it was amazing! Hold the whip like a vice yet instant release when you need it. I think Adam also makes one with the same kind of design.
