Anyone got a Magnoli?

Post by Stringer »

Magnoli is really above my price range, and i'll allways leam towards wested anyway (####, their best advert is my 7 year old jacket).

But i could save up for a few months, if i can be convinced. All of Magnoli's products look amazing. Has anyone gt a raiders jacket from him?

Cheers,
J.

I don't have his Raiders, but I have a non-Indy cow hide leather jacket that is inspired by the Indy design. The quality and fit is beyond compare (and yes, I own a Wested for comparison). You have so much control over a Magnoli jacket that you simply can not go wrong.
Not to mention, the man's service is impeccable. So far, I own a leather jacket, a suit, a pair of adventure pants, and two adventure shirts from Magnoli. In all that, only one problem came up, and he worked hard to make sure it was resolved to my satisfaction.

Also, keep in mind that his prices include shipping!

I do not have one of his Indy jackets but I do have 2 one of a kind custom jackets that he made for me. The fit cannot be matched as they are made to measure and in my case, made to my exacting details.

If his Indy jackets are anything like what he made for me then they are works of art.

I'm hoping I can get another jacket from him in the future.

Out of interest.... how do you think they compare to your new G&B Expedition?

Well it's apples & oranges. My Magnoli jackets are different leather, different color, different lining, differnent style, different everything.

I'd have to say that the fit on my Magnoli jackets really spoiled me. I half expected the G&B to fit like they do, but of course it doesn't fit as well as the custom made jackets.

Honestly I can't compare a factory made jacket to a custom one-off. They are both fantastic products in their own right.

If fit and numerous choices of materials & specific measurements are what you're looking for, then Magnoli is the only way to go.

He can take into account whatever you want.

you guys make compelling arguments, which my bank balance doesn't like ;)

I've heard that the Todds jackets are lightweight (though great value for the money), and i'll need a jacket that holds up to everyday wear for another decade. I take it Magnoli's jackets are equal to Westeds or G&B's?

Yes, it is....but a true custom one-off in every respect. One of the few left in our hobby.

I got the prototype from Indy a while back and was very, very impressed with the quality and the fit. Superb.

I'm sure his jackets have only got better since then, too. :)

Do you have any photos of your Magnoli jackets? It would be really interesting to see something else that he has had made other than an Indy jacket. :)

Thanks for that G. I've been to his website before but I was wondering if Mechanic had any of his own photos of his custom jackets. Seeing those "set up promo" pictures is very different to seeing peoples own photos... or we wouldn't be so obsessed with seeing photos of peoples new jackets  I know Magnoli will make a completely custom jacket, any way you want it, at a price. This is the thing that's interesting me...

This is the kind of stuff that drives me nuts looking for a REAL vintage jacket.

Type "vintage" into a search engine and you get a bunch of @#$%.

Vintage articles to me represent the HIGH QUALITY products from a past era.

The 1970's does not exactly strike me as a cornucopia of high-quality leather jackets. In fact, the opposite is usually true, although there are exceptions. Too many cheaply made fashion jackets came out of the 70's and continue to be pumped out today.

The 1930's-through the 1960's had some of the coolest leather jackets. Magnoli did a spectacular job recreating this jacket.

You're right there, Rick. The 70's took a hit on everything,....cars, clothing, guitars,....the toys were tres' cool, though.

Yeah it kind of upset me hearing my 1930's jacket in a reference to the 1970's. :?

Hey Mechanic what's the weight on that jacket? I think you mentioned having a LW so I'm assuming it's nothing compared to Stu's 4+ oz stuff, but it looks substantial. Very nice jacket... I love the pocket design.

I do not own a Lost Worlds, but this Magnoli veg tanned cowhide is very nice stuff. It's a little thicker than my G&B goat and it's got a natural oily finish. It has a substantial weight to it but not stiff or heavy. It's just perfect.

Here's my Magnoli- a 1930's motorcycle jacket exactly copied from an original in Magnoli's incredible "private reserve" veg tanned cowhide.
