Straw Indy Hat

Post by RichardSK »

I tried a search with too many results. Is anyone aware of a straw hat that is similar to an Indy fedora?

Here's a whole thread, started as recently as June 2rd, and you can find more all through the fedora section.

Then there's the discussion on the upcoming Camptown straws in the vendor section:

Where in the world did you look?

I did a search on COW for "straw fedora" and came up with over 5,000 responses. By the way, just e-mailed about the Camptown hat. It isn't on his website, still available?

It's still in development, so drop Ken a line and ask him about it, as he told me he was planning on moving on that project quickly once he's back in the saddle from the arrival of his new son.

The photo of the prototype is in that supplied link. Nice, isn't it?

On second thought, Ken, why not just a natural straw color. I would prefer a hat shaped correctly but doesn't scream out across a bark park-Indiana Jones!

x2!!! Plus a 'putty' or 'natural' color would be cooler. Temperature wise, not like 'cooool, man' cooler.

Put those suggestions in the vendor thread, if you haven't already. Like I said, this is a 'work in progress'.

He's working on it. Rest assured.

Cool. That prototype style in Natural would be a must-have, I would think.

Is that the official Indy straw we've heard about but never seen? Looks good on this monitor!

Makes the $125 custom Peters Bros straw a real steal, doesn't it?!

I got in touch with Ken about his hat that is in the works and mentioned a desire for a natural color rather than the darker brown. I am waiting for his reply to the suggestion and when it will be available as I would never spend the amount asked for the one just posted.

Straw Indy Hat

That Peters Bros. version looks AWFULLY nice. Made to order, in two colors -- is the price STILL $125.00?

Straw Indy Hat Variation

Post by Indiana Josh »

Here's another option that I recently got. The Stetson Walton is more of a variation than an exact straw version, though I suppose it would be simple enough to replace the hatband. Can be found here:

http://www.noggintops.com/page.cfm?p=239

Beware of the Stetson Brentano though. Other websites have alternate pictures of the Brentano that make it look more like an outback hat, and when I called this website to ask, they said the outback pictures were more accurate.
