What size do you wear?

Post by Rickcasino 325 »

Hi all -

New to COW. And really curious to find out .. what the most common hat size on COW is.

Everyone has always told me I have a LARGE head. At 59 it seems like a medium size head!

I figured we could run this as a poll and even if it's been discussed before the results could have changed...

Vote and post your actual size...

I think I'm somewhere in between a 56 and 57. I don't know which one I'm closer too though.

60. I always thought I had a bigger head than most but, judging by the results so far, I guess I'm about average. :-k

57 according to my measuring tape, but I can fit a 59?!?!?

I really don’t get it; have measured a hundred times my head and always come up with 57, but still 59 on the hat seem to be my real size... :!: :?:

60 here. I used to wear a 59 but somewhere around my thirtieth birthday that changed. I could pretty reliably pick up most any size 59 hat knowing it would fit then all of a sudden I'm wearing a size 60! Must've had one concussion too many!

"Large" Head

Post by YARVTON »

Hatmakers that use S/M/L sizes call 7-3/8 the actual "Large" so my 7-1/4 head --58-- is also classified as "Large" since I need that roomier size. "Medium" is 7 & 7-1/8. And so it goes.

Fed IV size 60. Ran a little big on me so I used sizing tape. Now it fits me very well. Loose enough that it doesn't leave any marks on my head, but snug enough not to fall off when I run (away from the Hovitos).

same here. my Fed III is a 59, but since Akubra adds about a cm to the hats to account for shrinkage it's technically a 60.

I'm a 58.5 and my head is somewhat long oval, I have an oddly shaped head. Its a pain when trying to buy stock hats, i almost always have to pick up a 59, or "sizes" between 7 1/4 to 7 3/8. Sadly foam is my friend.
