I don't know much about the Wested jackets and I am on a budget but what do you experts think about this one?

Not a Wested.....otherwise, it would have a Wested tag....not sure what brand it is......Disney's?.......doesn't look too bad. Looks similar to Wested's Novapelle as far as color. ...Tag says "made in China"....

Let me rephrase.......I don't know which Wested is closest to Raiders and can't spend that much on one just to tear it up. This one is a 2008 jacket that says made in China and claims to be 100% leather. Do you think it is a good close enough to tear up and distress like a Raiders one?

I apologize, I get in a hurry typing and can't think and type together. :D

Wested's brown lambskin Raiders jacket is closest to the original Raiders jacket...afterall, they made the original jacket for the movie. The one that's up on Ebay looks close to a Raiders but I doubt if it's SA. If you can get it for cheap, by all means distress it.......another alternative is to get a Todd's Standard Raiders jacket.....it's super cheap ($150) and looks very much like the real thing when distressed properly.

Thank you for the help. $150 sounds like the right price but needed to know how close it was.

...for $150, Todd's standard is pretty close......if you want the closest possible, you have to pay a little more and get a Wested.

My guess is that it's an overseas license. Just like Major League Baseball sells a license for "official" MLB merchandise in Asia etc., which cannot be sold in North America, because other companies have already paid for licenses out here. That's why you sometimes see MLB caps etc. with official licensed logos being sold for cheap in non-chain type stores.

i agree with dumas....this creature has probably the same lineage as the japanese orange patent leather indy jacket (the $1500 one  ) ...but this one doesn't look half bad.

That's the second one of those I've seen.

The jacket is pretty much CS/LC styled, straps, facings, collarstand/stormflap join (ie the stand des not go round to the stormflap), hanger, lining.... The main things that is not is they seem to have fudged the top of the storm flap and then also decided not to put in the snaps. Single stitched shoulders too.

It looks an ok licensed jacket, if it goes for around $150-200 it's a reasonable deal. The sleeves look a little baggy as does the general shape, but that's par for the course for a generic sized jacket.
