Help in ordering a Wested

Post by weisepet »

I have been browsing the forum for the past few months and am trying to decide on a jacket. Please correct me if I am wrong. Is the CS jacket is about an inch longer than the others and the washed/distressed goat is lightweight so would serve as a better spring/summer jacket?

I would like a jacket that could be worn in winter but also work for spring/fall (I live in Michigan). Would the Novapelle be too lightweight for winter?

Last, how do the jackets fit compared to a suit jacket? I see a number of people ordering the next size up and I am wondering if it is for extra room that a suit jacket doesn’t have. If it is, does the CS style have that built in?

Thank you for any help.

If I were you, I'd get 2 jackets.......for winter, a tough, heavy jacket like horsehide or cowhide.....and for Spring/Summer/Fall, a lighter-weight jacket like lambskin or goat (my washed goat is IDEAL). My Novapelle is heavier than goat or lambskin due to the fact that it's cowhide....more suited for late fall or early winter. You could wear a sweater underneath a cowhide or horsehide for really cold winters. As far as sizing, I'd rather err on getting something slightly bigger than getting something smaller....you always could "shrink" the leather a little bit to make it more snug, but you can never get a leather to go bigger.
