Why you write this? The jacket IS A SCREENUSED ITEM! And A HERO JACKET TOO! Please watch the movie!Dutch_jones wrote: Not that much because its not actually a screenused item.

the jacket is not seen on screen...I went thru some hard time watching the LC movie in very slow stills when the jacket was on screen...and I am sorry to say the smithsonian jacket is not seen on screen...only the hero jacket.
but the smithsonian jacket is worn by Ford..but not in the film

Ok, I will send you by PM my address for sending the jacket: you choose which one! Let me see if you are a one word man!
The jacket was used in the canyon scene, Look at these dvd snapshots. Look the collar absolutely no doubt!

I am not even a goob when it comes to the origin of the jacket, and theThe jacket in the display was not ever used during production. In fact, when the donation was made, they pulled the jacket from the archives and it had not even been distressed. Somebody from the property room did it with sandpaper and they shipped it off to Washington...
history of where the production jackets ended up, but it sure looks to me
like the jacket in the Smithsonian matches exactly to what is shown in
some of the screen captures posted from the movie, and production still
shot.

As a casual observer, KT, shiny or not, I'd still be surprised if that lining used in the LC jacket were not cotton, considering how much Ford HATED the nylon blend lining in the Cooper he wore in TofD.
I'd personally doubt he'd wear a satin lined Wested in all those desert shots...at least for very long. He's even seen wearing the jacket in production stills between shots, so the jacket must have been at least tolerable. Only cotton allows that, in my opinion.
Like I said, though, just an observation.

It does fly in the face of what we've heard. Perhaps it was one of those shiny cottons, mercurised maybe. It could just be a trick of the light.Michaelson wrote:As a casual observer, KT, shiny or not, I'd still be surprised if that lining used in the LC jacket were not cotton, considering how much Ford HATED the nylon blend lining in the Cooper he wore in TofD.

I know that Bernie insisted on a man made fibre for his samples from Peter for CS because of all that water. Maybe the Nowak owners can pipe up as to what the lining of that jacket ended up as.

I do wish _ would stop by this thread. That definitely seems to be a screen used jacket, which goes against what was perceived as fact for so long. Which is not at all uncommon around these parts, but an interesting development to say the least.
I'm not as convinced that's Ford on the left of that picture. He and his stuntman looked very much alike during LC, and the profile is truly odd. Be easier if we could see his chin/scar.
Either way, it seems extremely likely that jacket was in fact in the film...
