The Gray Traveling AB - Photos to come later

Post by Indiana MarkVII »

I'm starting a new thread here at the request of another author. No one seems to mind when other threads get highjacked, but since this was a specific request, I will comply.

The following is my response to a request for a photo of a Gray Traveling AB fedora, as worn in Raiders.

I'd be happy to post a picture of the Gray Traveling fedora. I can try to see how my camera phone works out tonight, or see if I have a chance to borrow my girlfriends's digital point and shoot. I'd take it right now, but today I wore my brown Raiders AB. Considering that I am wearing black pants and a white shirt striped in black, I should have chosen my grey one instead. I think I have a charcoal AB on order, so that might even be a better choice for my wardrobe today. But I still haven't gotten my CS AB from Steve, so who knows how long my last order will take. I'm not complaining at all. The AB and AB deluxe are great hats.

The gray traveler looks almost identical to the Raiders fedora except for color, but the top center dent is not as pronounced. I think I left it resting on something it shouldn't have been on soon after I got it, and that left a little tweak to one side of the brim. I've thought about sending it back to Steve to straighten out, but then on the otherhand, it's badge of ownership and wear that just came a bit too early for my taste, and one that I don't really want to get rid of superfast.

Actually, we DO mind. We just rarely catch them as the train is in the act of leaving the rails.

Thanks for starting this one. :D

Oh, and it's not the 'highjack' aspect...it's the fact that if anyone in the future wants to do a search for a discussion about the gray AB, it will never be found if buried in another non-related thread. This way it will pop to the top of a search function.

Sorry....now, back to our regularily scheduled show....and...

;0

From your description, it sounds like you and I have the same dark gray AB color fedoras. I'm wanting to send mine back to Steve to re-do as a CS travel hat example.

Regards! Michaelson

Question

Post by nicetrylaoche »

I've got a CS fedora on order (5/21/08) from Steve and I'm definitely getting the train station gray...I suppose it'll be close to a year before I can post pics here, but in the mean time, a question...
Does anyone know if Steve used the same gray felt for the fedora in the film as he has been using for the seaplane gray most of you have? Thanks

Yes, that is beautiful. The gray travel fedora will probably be my next one, but cannot lay down $400 for the AB. Luckily I have a CS AB coming later this year, but would love to have the train gray fedora sometime. Beautiful hat MarkVII.

Hey. Once you put on that grey fedora, you start looking a little like Steve Delk.

Does that happen to everyone who wears an AB eventually?

That's part of the secret 'treatment' Steve does. Just wait to see what Harrison Ford looks like in the next movie!
