So what do you guys think? Possibly expanded a little bit? Maybe a size bigger for KOTCS?

For my birthday I want to order an AB
As in the exact same one they used on the screen for Harrison. Size and everything.

Thing is, apparently Harrison's size for the original Raiders was 7 1/4 (58cm). I figure that it has to have expanded a LITTLE bit over 20+ years so maybe it's a 59.

Either way, when I measure myself with a measuring tape, loosely, I'm a 60. BUT if I pull it as tight as it can go I'm a little under a 58. So I think it could fit. Would it stretch eventually?

I’m 7 ¼ (58 cms) too, and as far as I understand from some time, this is was Harrison Ford’s size, and since he was pretty much of a grown up man back in Riders, really don’t think he have changed size since back then.

I have never seen people wanting to buy custom made items to fit Harrison Ford, until the last month or so. Buy a hat or jacket or whatever to fit you, not Harrison Ford. I have a tip for you, Harrison Ford will never wear the hat you are buying, but you may want to.

Ford would actually wear a 7 3/8 hat, if comfort was the priority. We sent hats that were in between sizes. That is, between a 7 1/4 and a 7 3/8. And the fit was tight. But, this size was used because Bernie reminded Harrsion that the hat needed to be snug to help keep it on. Hope this helps. Fedora

That's a really great write-up. Many thanks to whoever put it together. Has inspired me to tweak the bash on my Fed IV...

I think the reason folks are starting to want to get Ford-accurate gear is because this is the first time in almost two decades that an Indy movie is being made, and the vendors involved are opening their doors to the fans at the same time. So if you're getting a replica, some folks like the idea of getting it from the same people with the same specs. Sure it may never fit them, but in another twenty years, assuming that this is the last Indy film, they'll be able to look at their Ford-accurate gear and know that regardless of the spec changes throughout the years, they still have a prime example of Indy's gear.

True he's not going to be worrying about comfort when the alternative is stapling it to his head. Thanks for this info I was hoping to find this out from you.

Personally, I think it's an insult to the purpose of the hat if you're not going to order it in a size that you can wear. Maybe if you intended to put together a display mannequin built to Ford's specs, but otherwise... buying a hat you can't use that has no real film provenance is just silly, no offense.

For when I order my HJ or AB or whatever expensive hat I get to be "THE" hat from Indiana Jones, I think i'm going to give up on "Getting the exact size HF wore"

because

1) I heard that English sizes are 1/8th smaller than AMerican sizes to be more accurate. So if he wore somewhere in between a 7 2/8 (1/4) and 7 3/8 he really wore somewhere in between a 7 3/8 and 4/8 (1/2) in American sizes and in AMerican sizes I wear a 1/2 comfortably.

2) It'd probably shrink and there isn't a size tag or anything anyway

so close enough and thankfully I can wear it

No, not quite right. Being in America, I use American sizing, so HF would actually wear an American 7 3/8 IF, the hat was to fit comfortably. A 23 inch head. And we used a 7 3/8 block to make his hats. Not a 7 1/4. You generally use the next larger block if a person lies between sizes, and then drum in the right sized sweat to fit the head. Old hat here, but worth repeating. And as I said, the in between size fit him snugly, but not enough to leave marks. Fedora

Ok I'm not exactly sure on this because my new era caps are very weird on their sizing and a 60 can sometimes be tight..

but when I measure my head, somewhat loosely but tot (tought taut, sp?) but not tight I can be a 59 (or 23.25"), sometimes under that and sometimes over... so I'm pretty sure a 7 3/8 would fit right?
I also have another dockers fedora that I measured to be 59 but that's too loose.

I've seen various threads where you make comments about people wanting screen accurate and sized costume pieces. Have you ever heard "to each his own". Otherwise it's really non of your business. They asked what HF sizes were NOT for your personal commentary.
