I mean it's more than just a rumor, but not on the shelves or in hand yet.

 When I read the first post, I read "Moonshine" instead of "moonstone." #-o What am I thinking? Then I went to try and figure out what exactly that color might be... I thought, "Black?"

Can't wait to see it, though!

Oh, and also... when you say something's "in the pipeline," doesn't it mean it's out surfing? :P

Maybe on the West Coast, McFly!

Considering I'm in Tennessee, maybe 'moonshine' WAS the right word? I'm not so sure now!

Great timing!

Post by The Librarian »

I was planning to send off for a Moonstone Fed IV standard this week. Been lusting after a grey fedora for some time. I know they are out there but I have a Fed Dlx III in brown and love it. So I prefer to stay with the devil I know than chance disappointment.

Well, I can't wait to see one of those outside of the movie screen. So many wonderful hats and not enough disposable income or space. Dang it!

Cheers!

I got my Traveling Gray fedora from our own Mr. Fedora at Adventurebilt. It is a fine looking and fine fitting piece of work. I highly recommend this one.

My Holy Grail is almost in my reach

Post by The Librarian »

Another sign that a grey Fed Dlx is in my future. Just checked the Hatsdirect site and see that the price in US $ has lowered. Same price just better exchange rate. Not sure how our dollar got stronger but now I'm really Jonesing for the elusive grey Fed IV Dlx. Can you tell Ron to hurry it up?? Please!!!

If you would, please post it in a new thread so it doesn't get lost in the middle of a moonstone Akubra Federation discussion. That's the point of THIS thread.

I don’t get it; the Fed IV pictures thread have some beautiful gray (moonstone) fedoras posted from May, but right now it’s just a rumor? (Or a little bit more than a rumor) :?:

I’m up to buy a gray Fed IV for my heavy, and I mean heavy outdoor activities while I wait for a regular brown AB, but I would like to order a grey Fed IV ASAP, but I can’t find any info of this model at Hatsdirect!!! :!:

I have a gray DP witch I really don’t like too much, and won’t stand my outdoor rigor anyway, so that’s a hat in a box for now, and I would never dare to try Christys' outdoors since this is a hat I really like and I know it would never resist my outdoor usage either. #-o

For the record, I go out to humid and dry climates as well and I’m forced to put my hats inside a harness backpack on the sun for hours while I use a helmet, and when I’m not, dust and rain are a constant while I’m wearing a hat for sun protection. :?

Oh, I see! Now I get it, thanks Michaelson! :D
OK, so I’m definitely waiting for the Deluxe Moonstone, I really want the color and I really want the plus of the Heritage felt.
Any news now on when are we going to be able to order this beauty? 8)

Email HatsDirect asking when the Moonstone Deluxe would be coming...
Ron replied:

"Hi Marty,

more than a rumor, the Deluxe is on its way in Moonstone - the hat has gone to
the second blocking stage, we think they are about 4 weeks away. It will be one
very nice hat. Sizes will be 55 -
61, larger sizes will not be available. It will be listed on the web site in the
next few days for pre ordering.

Best regards,
Ron Lilburne"

That is great! I've been wanting to get the deluxe moonstone. Wonder when they'll put it up on the site. Just checked the federation page and moonstone isn't an option yet.

Pre-ordering?

Maybe I have a bad link but I've never seen a pic of the Moonstone Deluxe Fed IV on the site to pre-order one.

Big head curse!

Post by The Librarian »

Ron,
Getting any in sizes bigger than 61? I wear a 61 Fed Dlx III but and it fits fine. Comfy but secure on my head in the wind. But I hear the new ones run a half size smaller. So a 61 would be a 60.5. A bit snug. No rush though. Enjoy your week off.
