Todd's Jacket: Zipper Issue

Post by Las Vegas Jones »

To all that own the Todd's Jacket.

Has anyone else noticed that the zipper pull is on the Left instead of the right? This is a Woman's separating zipper, not a Men's. Or is this an issue with just my jacket?

Don't get me wrong, I love the coat and it only bothers me when I zip up the coat, which isn't very often, especially here in Las Vegas, It just feels awkward when I do.

I believe it's the British thing to do and seeing as the original jackets were made in the UK then this is how they were... it is SA, no?

Correct, Tollan, as the right hand zip is the U. S. version. The left hand version is the international location, and duplicates what has been used on not only Todds, but Gibson and Barnes jackets as well.

The Wested jacket is the baseline. It is Screen Accurate, with the exception of the TofD jacket, which was a Cooper/Wings jacket and had a right hand U. S. zip.

Correction! I was just shown some photos that show the Cooper DID have the UK sided zip as well! Sorry about that.

Well, I am glad to know that, I have been a costumer for a bunch of years and I had no idea that the UK had opposite zippers. You learn something new every day!

I am happy its correct and will just have to get used to it :D

Believe me, after you have worn it for a while, it will become second nature. I've actually worn other jackets with the U.S. zip location and caught myself reaching for the left hand side, I'm so used to wearing these jackets.

It's not just a Bristish thing, jackets all over the world have left hand pulls. Magnoli's jackets are all that way & even Hugh Jackman's Wolverine jacket in the first "X-Men" had a left hand pull. I've grown to like them and on some jackets the pull looks better on the 'other' side.

Like Michaelson said, once you wear it a while you do get used to it and the US zipper tends to thow you when you encounter one.

Cheers!

Yeah... It's like all those countries that decided to drive on the right hand side of the road. Very odd indeed
