Wested leather problems?

I am not trying to bash Wested because these things happen, but I was wondering if anyone has had any problems with the Wested Lambskin? My jacket is about 2 1/2 years old and the finish is peeling off on one side. I have only wore it a few times and the rest of the time is had been hung up in the closet. thanks

Has it ever gotten soaked? Do you live in a dry climate? Is there mold growing on it? Would you happen to have a picture that we can use as reference?

Judging from what you said though, my guess is that your jacket dried up and began to crack.

My sympathies to you at this time, but perhaps now is a good time for some of the newer fellas to take this as an example for themselves as to why Pecards (or a good leather treatment) should be applied.

Landingparty, if you're considering getting a new jacket by the way, I'd recommend that you give Tony Nowak a shot - since you've already tried Wested, why not try something new?

Also, if you do get a new jacket, I'd recommend some Pecards or Lexol...

I'd recommend some Montana Pitch Blend leather dressing. Stuff works great and smells great too.

Is it me or does it seem like Pecards has spies on this forum? It's like the only dressing ever mentioned!! (I'm still relatively new here so if it is a known fact that people here are associated with Pecards, please disregard this comment!)

Well, the reason why I brought it up was because it was the first leather conditioner I ever used, thanks to Michaelson's advice

, so I got caught in the neverending CoW chain!

But maybe the reason why this Pecard association started was because David Morgan, the guy famous for making Indy's bullwhips, was (possibly) the first to recommend we use it with his bullwhips?

P.s., giving myself credit, I *did* say "... [one should apply] Pecards (or a good leather dressing)...", so as to not be completely biased... It's not that I'm saying it's the end-all, be-all of leather dressings, it's just that I don't know too many brands!

I live in the LA area and there is no mold on it. I think it just dried up and needed conditioner. I am planning for a new Wested and I was going to use lexol as soon as I get the jacket. I was just curious if anyone had a similar problem.

By the was how accurate is the seal brown color?

I wasn't trying to take a cheap shot at ya bud.. just some friendly jabbing.

I think this forum alone keeps Pecards in business! You do bring up a valid possibility though with David Morgan and his bullwhips. Who knows! Use what you like, right?
