Dyeing my shirts (UPDATED With Pics!)

Post by ij1936 »

Should anyone care about such things: I am going to dye the last three of my five custom tailored shirts. I've come to realize that having too many tan Indy shirts is not practical so I am dyeing two dark green and one light blue. When I ordered them from a tailor in downtown Chicago, he asked me if I wanted different colors. Should've told him yes.

How green? like Military green or forrest? I think the military green would still work with the Indy look as an alternative style. Say Jungle Indy.

The Rit box just says dark green. I think it will look better with the khaki colored pants than the tan shirts.

That Rit green is REALLY green. If you're looking for a more subdued olive green, go with Dylon Olive Green. It's good stuff.

Color photos please

Post by Indiana MarkVII »

Even though everyone's computer monitor displays a different color, please post some photos of your before and after photos. I've been collecting quite a number of Indy shirts (not by original plan), and even though the Westeds and Adventurebilt are much lighter than the Todd's, with a What Price Glory shirt in the middle hue, I think it would add some variety to my wardrobe to have some different colored Indy shirts, too. I suppose I should also get a Magnoli Adventure shirt, to round out my collection. Is there anyone else's shirt I'm missing?

I'll have to FIND my digital camera AND put some batteries in it! I also need to get some different buttons that will more closely match the color. This is going to take a bit of time: removing the old buttons and sewing on the new ones.

Here ya go!

Before with original buttons:

When I had the shirt(s) made, the tailor never asked about the buttons. I thought that since he had a sample shirt, the people he sent the order to would've used the same style buttons. I thought wrong, so I contacted Noel and had him send me some buttons.

After with replacement buttons:

I couldn't do anything about the stitching. Apparently the thread used was incapable of being dyed.

I kinda like it!. It will go good with my tan khaki pants.
