Okay, here we go...rant time.

I'm thirty-two, but have always been a bit of an old soul.

Today I went see The Incredible Hulk and wore khaki shorts, a black pullover, and to top it all off, my DP wool felt, since I only ordered my Fed IV this morning.

I receive no comments and no looks or stares.

But I did notice how far fashion today--and with it manners and comporting one's self in public--have fallen.

I mean granted, it's the movies, but some people in that theater today looked like they were wearing their pajamas, and they acted like it too. They propped their feet up on the chairs behind them and pushed their seats back, which made me uncomfortable sitting behind them.

Drooping pants, underwear t-shirts being worn as regular shirts, no more dress codes requiring collars, and people wearing frayed shorts or sweat pants to church?!

It just really sticks in my craw.

These punk kids today who wear pants that are falling off and enjoy music that glorifies rape, murder, alcohol abuse, drug use, and materialism could do well to dress up their act, switch off the 50 Cent for some Frank Sinatra, and doff a fedora and crack open a book.

I'm right there with you but I am only 26. I have always liked the older things, classic rock, fashion, muscle cars. I wish it were more common that people still wore fedoras. Mostly I see older black guys wearing them on Sunday or some thorwback skater wearing a tiny brimmed fedora. I want the Indy style fedora back. :cry: My dad has worn his every day when he goes out for the past 10 years or so. Granted he does so in some thrift store button down shirt with the sleeves rolled up, some dirty jeans, and some white deck shoes. :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: I don't know where his fashion train derailed at but the hat is kind of cool.




Don't tell my wife I think the hat is cool. I tell her I hate it to agree with her. :wink:

That made me laugh. :lol: Fedoras are too big a deal to me to hide my love for them from my lady... but I know what you're saying.

I have to admit that I would have been the person in high school to say something even though I was not in the popular group. I was one of those in the middle kind of people but when some one did or said something "dorky" I would have said something snide in reply to make myself look "cool".

As a person gets older they hopefully change for the better. I adopted a new philosophy a few years ago. If someone is doing or saying something and it is not against the law, hurting people, or keeping me from living my life, then who cares. I swear, if more people embraced that concept we would be in a lot better shape in this world. Don't get me wrong, I am no tree hugger, but sometimes people just need to calm down and live.

While I can't comment on the "fashion sense" of your Dad, it sound like he has his own personal "STYLE". And with fedora, or without, this country could use some more stylish gents.
