So when ever it is cold or rain/snow I wear my jacket collars up. I do this on my Indy jackets as well as all my other jackets/vest. I have always done this...anyone else?
The only time I have ever seen Indy do this was in ROTLA Temple scene.
Anyway, just a question I have wondered about for a good while....If I was the only one who does this.

I do now and then. I can't stand to have cold wind on my neck, so on days like that it's collar up, brim down, and I'm good.

When I first got my LC Wested I lived in a place that didn't get much wind or very cold. So I never put it up. Then I moved to a coastal city and I'm very glad to have the "Dracula" collar to but up when the ol' wind starts a whippin' an the rain starts a pourin'. As it happened to do today.

While I remember the collar up for style days of the 80's (class of 86), I still put a collar up on a jacket when practical.
Arctic wind on the neck is just as uncomfortable as tarantulas on the neck.

For Fonzy and Elvis up, everyone else down. I use a scarf when it's cold so down.

Almost never, but there is the odd occasion when it helps against the weather.

You know, I never noticed that the back of Indy's collar was standing up in the Temple scene of ROTLA.
Nonetheless, mine will stay down.

I'll be wearing a Crystal Skull jacket. So, from what I remember, "collar down" IS screen-accurate.

Sure, I whip it up here and then.
I don't always bring a scarf or an umbrella.

If I'm wearing my jacket, I always have a collar, but I don't always have a scarf. Besides, where I live, if you know that you need a scarf, chances are the Indy jacket is not your garment of choice for the day!

Depends on how you wear it. If you use the "noose" look, it basically says
"I'm an idiot who didn't know how to tie my scarf until my girlfriend showed me .
I like the Jedi look.....throw the whole thing lengthwise across the front of your neck, cross the scarf in the back and bring the ends back to your chest. Better yet, tuck them into the front of your buttoned coat.

I flip my collar up if I'm afraid of getting rushing water or freezing cold winds down the jacket in a rainstorm or a boat ride, but other than emergency situations, I try to emulate that Indy look. Besides, some of my Indy jacket collars are too over-sized to pull off that flipped up 80's panache!

From The Irish R.M. by Somerville & Ross (1928)
"... big pellets of rain were flung in our faces, and I began to realize, not for the first time, that to turn up the collar of one's coat is more of a protest than a protection."

When it's practical, I put the collar up to keep the rain or snow off my neck, otherwise it's down.

Most of us here have go it up (the collar that is)... we just don't talk about it in public. Relax Cowboy, just lie back and think of America.

I'll wear it up on a breezy cool evening when it may be too warm for a scarf but I want to keep the chill wind off of my neck.
Cheers!

Down, except sometimes when it's windy - I don't like a cold wind on my neck either. But I don't turn the whole thing up - I do it like Indy did, where the very back is up, and the front sides are kind of bent to lay flat with your chest.
Here's a picture of me wearing it this way, so you know what I mean...

Only reason Indy had his collar up for that scene, was to keep the spiders off his neck. The little hairs on their legs are itchy like fiberglass.
You'll notice the collar is down immediately before and after that scene.
That was Indy's ONE Elvis moment.

It's OK Shane, I was just explaining why HF did it. I don't think you look weird.
What's
really weird, is we're a bunch of folks that like to dress like Indiana Jones, and we're worried if we'll look strange with the collar pulled up, lol.
