I got it...my new Keppler

Post by DR Ulloa »

After having to change my hat size, Lee told me that I would have to wait for his new hat bodies to come in, which would be six weeks. Six weeks later, the hat bodies had not come in, through no fault of Lee's. I phones him last night and he told me he had a 7 5/8 that he could send me. I'm a 7 1/2. I told him to go ahead and over night it and I would see how the fit was. I recieved it today (after having to go to the Post Office and fight over the hat for an hour) and it fit loosely. It wasn't too loose, but not snug. I got some hat sizing tape and the hat now fits amazingly. What a great present. Lee was great to deal with and the hat is beautiful. The bash was slightly messed up from delivery, but I fixed it in no time. I recommend Lee's hat to any one who is in the market for a first fedora, second fedora, third fedora, or whatever number fedora you are up to. Thanks Lee!

Dave

p.s. I know: ;0 . Photos will come later.

I'm so happy it arrived! Congrats you will love the hat, it gets so soft and pliable after you squash it like in the video. Lee's hats look great too they are gorgeous...

Can't wait to see your photos, please post soon.

I have to admit I am new to the forum here but I have had Indygear as my home page for years. I ordered my Radiers Jacket from Peter because of this site. I have two pair of aldens and two of Lee's hats (one still in the box-never worn) I have had the pleasure of Lee coming over to the house for dinner twice and he delivered the hats on those occasions. His hats are awsome and a great deal, I would like to have an Adventurebuilt but it will have to wait.

I used to wear mine all of the time but the summers in AZ can be a little warm to wear a felt hat so now I use them in the cooler weather and when I am camping. I may well wear it when I see the film tomorrow, you know along with everything else (geek at heart)

Take out the lining of your hat in hot weather. I wore mine when I was out in Phoenix and Las Vegas last year visiting our eldest daughter, and that worked fine for me when we were out in the desert.

Thanks Michaelson. In the South Florida summer, I may just do that.

Wow, it's nice to finally see another Tucsonian post here! (Given I've... *COUGH* been absent for some time) I actually find it harder to wear my hat here in the summer times but I still find myself wearing it on hikes even if it reaches scorching temperatures! With our recent dip in temperature today (Psst I hear it's snowing on the mountain) I actually took the chance to grab my hat and wear it a bit while it's still comfortable!

Anywho... Sorry for steering the thread away from you Dr Ulloa!

Nice hat! And nice collection of Indy toys I see in the background!

Thanks. I actually picked up some action figures today. The hat fits better and better everyday. I spent a little time playing with the bash after taking those photos and really like the way it is coming along. Lee really is a master of his craft and above all a gentleman. I love this hat.

Hats will do that. I remember talking to an old cowboy who used to say that he'd wear his hat so as the new felt relaxes it molded to his head better and gave a better fit. Side effect of growing up out west is you get a lot of old cowboys giving advice...

Just don't sit on it like I've heard SOME people do. Putting it on on the wrong end just bothers my logic sense...

No, I haven't sat on it. I have, however, been doing just as your friend suggested. I wear the hat at all times so that the hat will shape to head; better now that the felt and leather is new than later.

The hat looks great, Dave!

(What's with the recent pictures of guys wearing hats without shirts on? It's a little disturbing. :? )

Does this mean you aren't getting one of the new bodies, then?

I know, snow on Mt Lemmon, I am usually camping this weekend up there with the Land Rover club, glad I'm not this time.

Good thing the movie came out this week or I would have been up there :D

I am going to see the movie this morning at the new theater off of I-19, I'll be the one in the hat :rolling:

It was late and I was about to go to bed. I didn't even realize I didn't have a shirt on. Sorry about that, guys. No, I will not be recieving one of the new hats. I had originally ordered this hat and not the new ones so I don't feel bad about it. The only reason I had expected the new Keppler was because I had changed the size. He still had my old size left over but with a bit of sizing tape I was able to make it fit nicely. Not too tight, but not too loose either. I'm going to Disney World this weekend so I will pos photos of the hat from Orlando, if the weather permits the hat to be worn; I don't want to completely soak the hat just yet.

I am researching which fedora to purchase and Lee's seems like a good deal. How is the durability of the hat? Do you think it will be ok for everyday use or just for dressing up?

I have worn my Keppler just about everyday since I recieved it and it has held up very well. I have been working on the bash and it looks better every day. I will post photos later. You can't go wrong with a Keppler.
