Christy's Fedora on my NEW Indy costume display!

Post by Chris_King »

Hi everyone,

With great thanks to Aeris Canyon, I am now the proud owner of a Christy's Fedora which has been turned / styled by Aeris. He did a fantastic job on this and I'm thrilled with how it looks on my new Indy display mannequin. Here's a pic!

Thanks again Aeris!

I love it, what a great outcome. Can I come live in that room?

Thanks guys!
I'll try and get a better photo tomorrow when some natural daylight gets into my display room.

Dutch_jones - I don't have a bust for the display at the moment. I've owned quite a few over the years but none of them have truly captured a Raiders-era Ford. I'm patiently waiting for the right one to come along, then I'll add it to the display. Sideshow Collectibles are supposed to be releasing a lifesize Indy bust this year, so I'm interested to see what that looks like.

How much did Aeris have to turn it to get the reverse taper?

I love my Christy's. Great purchase. Of course, I need a beaver hat too, though.

Great display and great looking hat. The Christy's is a real looker. Hoping to get one this summer.

that's a great setup...now all you need is a Ford mannequin head and you're set.

Thanks guys!

Indycrazy5187 - I'm waiting for a good Ford head to be made. I've owned a lot of them in the past but nothing has captured Ford's Raiders look as closely as I'd like, so I've always ended up letting them go.

Hopefully someone will sculpt the ultimate version and when they do, I'll be sure to pick one up!

Y'know what Chris, I honestly think the setup you have now is more effective than even the best Indy sculpt would be.
Your current display really brings attention to the gear and has a museum quality about it. The only thing I'd change is to paint the neck of the mannequin black and wrinkle up that shirt a bit.
I think it looks better now that it would with a Ford head on it, as it would draw all the attention to itself and would almost feel like a downgrade from a high end film museum display piece to a cheapo wax museum feel, no matter how good the head is.
(Just my 2 cents)
Looks beautiful brotha.

It looks good standing next to Yoda....Maybe Indy is actually force sensitive and thats how he manages to avoid death so often.

I couldn't help but do a quick PS to show what I meant in regards to the neck:

I don’t know guys... gotta be REALLY freaky to dress up a mannequin, uh? Even worst; if you guys want to use your gear, you really remove those clothes by yourself, or call your sister to do the job for you or something?

Exactly, Holt. That has got to be the best way to show off all the gear.
What's freaky about it? It doesn't even have a head staring back at you.
Besides, how often does one wear ALL the gear?

I’m just kidding; I think it is a great way to display your gear!

Still, it will be really weird if anyone find you undressing your mannequin because you need the pans or something! It would like “No, wait!!! It’s not what you think!!!:lol:

P.S. I would actually like to have one of those HF head casts in my mannequin if I had one, by the way!

Thanks guys.
All of this gear is display only.

Here's a list of what's on the display:

1. Fedora - Christy's.
2. Jacket - Todd's Costumes - CUSTOM (pre-washed & re-washed lamb).
3. Shirt - Adventurebilt.
4. Pants - Noel Howard (Raiders).
5. Boots - Alden 405's.
6. Bag and strap - Noel Howard.
7. Buckle - Adventurebilt.
8. Pants belt and Gun belt - Noel Howard.
9. Holster - Adventurebilt.
10. Whip - David Morgan 10ft Natural Tan (with longer handle).

I've got a Wested Novapelle Crystal Skull jacket that I wear, but I don't wear any of the other gear.
