Leather Soul Hawaii "Ultimate Indy Boot"
Here are the pics from the "Ultimate Indy Boot" that went up for sale from Leather Soul Hawaii. I actually really like the quality Alden put into this boot for Leather Soul especially the rugged lug sole and the all leather lining. Anyway here is the pics and the link to the site...D Widths only right now and the price is a bit steep at $450 though the quality does look amazing.

Well Aloha
####, good thing I checked back into this site. It has been a while. Leather Sole Hawaii is a block away from my house! I will check it out this weekend.

Can you pick me up a pair of the cigar cordovans? They only sell them in the store, not by mail.bandit6 wrote:####, good thing I checked back into this site. It has been a while. Leather Sole Hawaii is a block away from my house! I will check it out this weekend.

I just need Alden to make them on their AA width last and I'm in for a pair. The smooth sole Indy boot never made sense to me, so I've a pair of AF64 boots on order for a possible Fall delivery. You don't always need a wet surface to slip with the Alden 405s. Even dry gravel on a hiking trail in Arizona or a grass lawn can be treacherous in a smooth sole boot. This boot is a winner. I hope Aldens expands their line to other widths.
I agree about the slippage....which is why I don't ever wear even dress shoes with a smooth sole. I wonder why Alden never made the original Indy Boot with a rubber lug sole in the first place....definately would've been much more functional and more durable.....esp. if one wants to wear it in snowy or icy conditions.Indiana MarkVII wrote:I just need Alden to make them on their AA width last and I'm in for a pair. It's probably bad form to quote a quote but...PSBIndy wrote:I agree about the slippage....which is why I don't ever wear even dress shoes with a smooth sole. I think the whole deal with a smooth sole boot is just getting used to it. You learn how to place your foot differently than when you wear a sysnth sole or a lugged one. I used to hike, swordfight, do all sorts of stuff in my Justin ropers and that's about a snmooth as you can get. That was when I was in AZ, no I am in UT and agree that for snow or ice or really wet conditions it is a downer but other than that you just have to gat used to them.

the boot is not screen accurate!!! from the white stitching to the rubber souls. colour is not right either. it is an extremely nice looking pair of 405's but definitely far from "ultimate" as far as how i would describe it.
the cigar shell 405's are closer but look like patent leather. the closest i could find was alden of carmel but they have the rugged soles on them (which i settled on).
can't anyone make a true gearhead 405?.....that's around $400?

granted....just don't let me here 'em say, "these are the same boots that you see in the movies" or i'll be reaching for my whipMola Ram wrote:It's supposed to be the ultimate "shoe junkies" pair of alden boots. They weren't created to be screen accurate. The guys over on the SuperFuture.com forum went nuts when this was released.
so....what's superfuture?
Its a fashion and clothing forum.
I was searching google for pictures of aldens one day and came across a 365+ page thread about alden shoes on there . At this point the entire thing has turned into just a thread about Indy boots. Screen accuracy does not mean anything to anyone over there...its not important. These boots still look amazing, and thats what matters.. The only reason I belong to that forum is for the sole (lol) purpose of looking at this shoe thread. The guys on there do all kinds of crazy things to standard aldens.
consider the following.....

Agreed. How many leather soled cowboys could be wrong? I've never had a problem with slippage on the original neoprene or the replacement leather soles on my Aldens.whipcracker wrote: I think the whole deal with a smooth sole boot is just getting used to it. These "Ultimate Indy Boots" are much better looking than the AF64's but still don't compare to those cigar cordovans. Those are the end of the search for me. Now I just need to pay for them.

Tom (of Leather Soul Hawaii) named them the "Ultimate Indy" because he thinks that how the 405 should be made...More Rugged...Tougher...and better quality...He didn't intend them to be screen accurate so much as functional...
Here is a copy of his post from Super Future...
I call them Ultimate Indys as a catch phrase I guess, since I personally think they are what the 405s should be in my mind...I know Indiana Jones fanatics on some forums don't think they're too "Ultimate" since they are more concerned about screen acuracy, but from a shoe guy point of view, they are "Ultimate" I guess.

ha ha! even the creator sees my perspective. that, i truly respect. i wonder how hard it was to call us "fanatics" instead of crazy stitch nazissneakertinker wrote:IG...Indiana G wrote:the boot is not screen accurate!!! from the white stitching to the rubber souls. colour is not right either. it is an extremely nice looking pair of 405's but definitely far from "ultimate" as far as how i would describe it.

bottom line is, if they bear the alden name, they must be extremely nice boots
what would it take for tom/schmidty/etc (someone stateside or NA-side) to quench our indy-boot needs?
i would love to see a distressed 405 like the movie ones....the one in CS almost looks suede. that i'd pay money for
