Fairly noob question here guys...new to COW.
The AB is a bit out of my price range but the Fed IV and FIV deluxe look pretty nice and seem more affordable than the $400 AB.
Are these hats a solid alternative to an AB, or is there a better option? Does it make a huge difference (other than price ) to got with the standard versus deluxe version? I know this is a matter of personal preference in many ways, but I'd appreciate the advice and input.
And will they put the bash in for you if you request it? Is that extra?
Thanks Guys!

From HatsDirect Imperial is the Standard, Heritage is the Dlx
Imperial Quality
Akubra Hats reputation for tough wearing qualities and fine fedora styles is based on this grade of felt. It is tough, hard wearing and can take any punishment dished out to it. These hats like hard wearing.
The Heritage Quality
This felt is a relatively recent addition and is made from finer fibres taken from a select part of the rabbit pelt and mixed with the native Hare resulting in a grade which is denser and smoother than the Imperial grade. Parts of the pelt not required are discarded. It is more stable over time and less prone to shrinkage and distortions such as the tapering of the crown.
The Heritage Grade is the closest rabbit fur grade to Beaver Felt.
They come open Crown, but they are easy and fun to shape.

speak for yourself highlander.....i don't need to move out.....just gotta sleep on the couch for a while.....with my new hat over my eyesHighlander wrote:Thanks Piker!
Like everyone else 'round these parts, I want the Raiders accurate look without needing to move out when my wife signs for the package!
Aside from the obvious answer being AB, what other hats would you recommend as closest to the actual Raiders hat...without breaking the bank?
i've seen some nice kepplers and they're quite agreeable to the cheque book. you'll have to check with your little man:
"will you be satisfied with the close'nuff or will you need to venture off in search of the next close'nuff soon after"....if the answer is yes to the latter, you might as well break the bank now and go with an AB or IMHJ or AB deluxe....it'll be cheaper in the long run
good to see another canuck on board

Fed IV
Resolved: The Fed IV is the cheapest Indy hat and the best value for the money.
Does anyone argue against the resolution? As I recall, the Fed IV is at/just under/just over US$100. -- plus shipping from Australia [adding about $30.00].
