Yeah, I suppose if it was given a deeper Raider's crease in the center dent, it might not look quite as tall. The proportions just look wonky to my eyes, for a CS-styled hat.

I don't think it looks "wonky" or anything like that. I like it...alot! To me, it doesn't make a difference because I will be giving it a Raiders bash anyway. Why should anyone except the boys at AB give a hat a CS bash? That is why Steve is making my CS fedora.

Factory AB

Post by Indycrazy5187 »

i once saw somewhere that adventurebilt was selling a crown block to camptown. Camptown uses a factory so maybe this could work out. I talked to the founder of camptown the other day and he said the "process is still in the beginning stages." Whatever that means. I hope that this goes through

AB hats

Post by Indycrazy5187 »

I so want to just put that 400 into the PP account and wait. But I'm kind of strapped for time. I'm leaving for Australia in 7 months and, like many of you know im sure, it's hard to get in touch with steve because he's busy. I'm sure he gets thousands of emails a day. I just wish I knew about him when they first announced that he was making the hats. Then maybe I wouldn't have a possible year turnaround time. oh well i guess. I may end up doing it. I called the number on the site once and spoke to a very nice lady. She said he's been having email problems.

Maybe gold liners to mirror what Bernie did to the hat on set might be in order?

I would like that very much. If possible, that would be a nice touch an a nod to the film hats.

Just got back home from Copenhagen / Denmark after the pre-premiere :D

It seems like people are all over this hat (going by pm's and e-mails) even though I only had a prototype to show so far :?

I've been send a few requests to the hatter on what I'd like to be changed... well... ok, it actually only were a few details, but it still turned out to be an entire page  But I remember that this is something that Steve and I do for YOU guys and that it's gotta be the real deal or nothing at all, so we won't take any shortcuts on The Henry.

I've been comparing the sweatband of the prototype with the ones on my vintage HJs and it's IDENTICAL!!! In fact it's done so incredibly well, that I'm seriously considering having THEM put my roo hide sweatbands together in the future. It's really, really nice :D

I hope to receive the next prototype soon, then discuss the final details and finally have the final prototype for approvement after that (within a few weeks). And then we'll be able to take orders and get the hats out 1-2 weeks after they're ordered :D

Marc

Marc wrote:I just received the prototype of the Henry and I'm impressed BIG time!!!

The felt is REALLY nice and the sweatband the best I've ever seen on a factory made hat. Of course a few details have to be dealt with yet but for a PROTOTYPE this hats makes me very, very happy!!!

Here are some (very) quickly taken pictures:

Awesome sweatband here. Really great leather quality:

And of course the stitching holding the sweatband in place are ABOVE the brim break as requested

Again: this is a PROTOTYPE and I'm well aware that a few details needs to be done yet. However even this prototype is something I'd be proud to wear.

Actually, there was a great deal of . . . um . . . discussion of the not yet set price until the picture of the prototype was posted (funny how that worked). But to reiterate, no final price has been set but it appears it may be more than the $180 originally targeted.

Peace.

The price as of now is $280, but Marc hopes to get it down. The price is not set in stone, as was mentioned before, but even at $280, the Henry is a great deal. That price, of course, includes world wide shipping.

Same color as my Fed IV. Good lookin' fed but doesn't match a real AB as far as color and texture goes.

I guess thats true...But I can tell just by the pics in natural light it's too dark. And the texture will never be the same because it's a blend. Nothing wrong with that at all....but those are 2 big reasons we buy an AB.

Marc, is there any chance of this hat being offered in gray? I've been looking into purchase a gray fedora and can think of no better hat to fit the bill. Seein as though the "train" hat was gray, it would still technically be a Crystal Skull fedora. I am not crazy about having the same specs, just the color. Is this option a possibility, or would I need to go with a handmade AB or AB Deluxe for that?

The train hat does have different specs. And though I love that hat, I really am just looking for a gray fedora, not that specific hat.

I've sent a lose bow to the hatter together with a diagram on how to improve the flying-V. Also he's improving the pouncing job per my request. I hope to have the final prototype in my hands within 1-2 weeks and then it's a go :D

Regards,

Marc

P.S.: We MIGHT offer grey Henrys as well, depending on the demand of the brown one.

I know, but I would like a blend instead of rabbit. I want only one gray hat so I want it to be all purpose; treks through the everglades and to the opera house in the same day. Federations are tough, but blend is still better than the toughest Australian hare as far as life expectancy goes.

I have considered the Legend. I would love to have a hat from every COW vendor and support them all. I already bought one from Lee and Steve and will be pruchasing from Magnoli in the coming weeks so that really just leaves me with Marc, Ken and Ron. Marc's hat will probably have to wait purely on price. So I may go with the Camptown, yes...sorry to be longwinded.

Good eyes Gentlemen! Ok, this is how the felt looks when I get them in BEFORE pouncing! The hatter complained about the color of the prototype rawbody being to dark compared to the sample and that the felter probably screwed something up.

I then kindly told him that no, this was actually rather due to him not pouncing it enough and that this would be on my list of changes anyway, as I wasn't happy with the surface of the prototype. "Dang it Marc, there's just no detail that you haven't been working on, huh?" - Well, he said he likes a challence so... 8) The next prototype is similar to the color of the handmade ones and MUCH smoother to touch :D

Less. I believe the price in Euros was 140 and in Dollars 280. Like Marc said, it is not set in stone, so we don't really know, but at least we have an idea.
