Alden's Question
I recently ordered myself a pair of Alden's 405s. They won't be in for 12-14 weeks, but Im still excited anyways. I have a question though, is it possible to use some sort of leather waterproofing spray on the boots instead of Pecard's? I have an older pair of Harley-Davidsom boots that I waterproof with the leather aerosol spray and I never had any problems with them leaking. Im not really an advocate of putting polish or anykind of dressing on my leather. I like the color to stay as natural as possible, aside from the change caused by normal wear and tear. Im just curious to know if anyone has used a leather waterproofing spray on their Aldens before or is this strictly Taboo?

I'd probably recommend hunting down some Stubben's Hamanol. It's a leather conditioner that's made in Germany yet internationally distributed. It waterproofs and softens the leather making it nice and supple. It WILL darken your Aldens a bit, but believe me, if they arrive in the 'pumpkin' colour, you'll want them darker. Hope this helps.
