Cheap replica S&W 1917?

Post by TheMechanic »

Hi folks,
I'm looking for an el cheapo Smith & Wesson 1917. I don't care if it's wood, resin or carved from a bar of soap.

I have a guy who can make me the holster but he needs the gun to fit to the holster and to make sure the flap is the correct size.

Also, does the 'Raiders' holster accomodate the full 5" barrel or was the holster custom made only to fit the 4" cut down pistol?

Any help would be appreciated.

What do you call cheap? Lee Keppler has them for $80 US.

The raiders S&W was a four inch barrel, modified. Original they are five inches.
I think the holster was made for a four inch barrel.

Buy this one. The black hand grip IS removable and it has a decent weight to it. Some of the parts are metal. It is a close enough and for $50 can't go wrong!

I'm going to have to get a resin casting of a real one for the holster maker. They guy I want to make the holster is one of the country's top gunleather makers. His stuff is all handcrafted by him alone and is of the highest quality. His holsters, gunbelts & saddle bags etc. have been seen in many movies as well. He really needs the real thing or a casting of the real thing to make the holster exact.

I'll try to get ahold of Lee and see about getting his pistol.

Thanks guys.
