I think she looks fantastic. Very nice indeed. And I'm excited to learn more. How's the color? It looks a tad dark in those two pics but that could be just the lighting? Is that a CS bash as well? Whoever made that hat for you did some fine work. I wonder what that would look like in a size 7.... ABW?

What?!?!? Really?!?!? Wow! We demand more pictures of such piece of art!!!
Congratulations, it really looks great! It’s your first attempt or you have any other prototype before having this one? Do you have any pictures of your process? Are you planning sharing any tutorial? This is something I would really love to see! I got my Todd’s ribbons today, so I’m closer to my first made fedora every day now, but would love to read what you did with this baby before!
P.S. How many “!’s” did I just typed?

thanks everyone, it's rabbit. beaver will be next.
Fink, are you attempting to make your own hat or replace your ribbion?
The hat is a rabbit felt with a dark brown ribbion from todds.
the sweat is a cow hide and the liner is just white.
It's my secound hat that I made but re-did the first one a few times. Johnny fedora if you could post that pic I gave you. That would be great.
My next hat is in the works right now and it will be a pure beaver felt with a roo sweatband.

I really want to make my own hat! I enjoy making my own stuff, or at least as much as I can. I already have a few “replacement” ribbon bands from Todd’s since I know I will never be able to make my own “Indy hat” band this good, I’m not that brave or stubborn!BendingOak wrote:Fink, are you attempting to make your own hat or replace your ribbion?
But everything else, I’m willing to do; make my own block (wood or plaster), make my own tools, etc. I don’t want to do just one hat, I actually wish to be able to do at least some for my own personal use, and not just one single color.

hat
I don't know how much time wen't into each hat. I re- stitched the sweatband and ribbion a few time to lern as much as I could before moving on the the secound hat. I still have some room to improve before I would call this a good hat or polished.
On the supplies that I used changed from the first to the secound and now the third hat. I haven't found everything I like yet. It's hard to find supplies for this stuff. It's not like they are on the www.
As for the tools and block. I bought some new and some used. It's a big investment to get things rolling. I now have two blocks 7 3/8 and 7 1/4. There are a lot of parts to get to really make these things.

If you haven't seriously considered taking this up as a money making 'hobby', you're missing the boat. Those are GREAT looking hats!
