I had to stop myself from bidding!
It looks like it varies in colour on the front compared to the rest of it.
Still, it seems like a nice bag and I hope someone on the forum gets it.

I did too! Was it this one? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... gory=13974IndianaJones wrote:Yeah, I know, I had to stop myself from buying as well. but I already bid on a MK VI -IJ
I totally missed that he only ships to America and Canada so now I don't know what to do. My bid was for $9... Is there a way of un-bidding?

Man... I need to hold my horses and read t-h-r-o-u-g-h things before I do any more bag-shopping.

I noticed there doesn't seem to be any vent holes too. I've seen American issued bags similar to the MKVI-MKVII but not anyone like this one...
Interesting...
Oh well, I've e-mailed the seller now to see what happens.
If anyone is interested that lives in America or Canada I'm sure it can be arranged if I happen to win. Or, you are most welcome to outbid me. *LOL*

Wow, you guys are certainly good at tracking down these things. But you see that bidder on the first auction posted? Well, that's me! You might remember me from such threads as 'Bag advice? - Dyeing / De-rusting...'. ![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)
I bid for that bag just in case the one I found in the real world got sold... and guess what - it did. Yes, despite telling me he'd hold the bag for me for a few days, the shopkeeper went and sold the bag to someone the morning I went to go and collect it. I wasn't amused.![Sad :(](./images/smilies/frown.gif)
If I had got the bag, and if I'd also won the auction, I was going to give it to a friend of mine who's also into Indy quite a lot. It's not in as good a state, and it looks like it has more rust on it than the shop one, but now, if I win it, I'll keep it myself.
I emailed the seller for more pictures, which I can show you if you like.

Well, I'm trying not to get too attatched to it or make lots of future plans after my first 'loss' . But if I do, I'll definitely get a strap - seeing as he says the normal strap is a bit ripped.
Here are a few more pictures of it, btw:

And seeing as it's tan, like the first one, dyeing it is still on the agenda![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)

Buying the strap from Noel sounds a good idea, but like I say, I'm trying (hard) not to start envisioning what I'm going to do with the bag ![](//cdn.jsdelivr.net/gh/twitter/twemoji@latest/assets/svg/1f609.svg)
You seem to know an awful lot about these bags, Swindiana. Do you think repeated washings would wash off the stamp on the inside of the flap? I kinda like it.
Argh! I've got stop talking about this bag![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/Indy%20-%20Big%20Grin.gif)

I've heard of some people that lost their stamps when washing the bag. Mine had an arrow with a number beneath it that vanished when I washed mine but the main stamp was still there in good condition. I guess it depends on what kind of ink is used. I see this one is a Waring & Gilbow Ltd. so I suggest you ask others that have bags from that company if the stamp will stick around when washing.Ihatesnakes wrote: You seem to know an awful lot about these bags, Swindiana. (Check out this link for a W&G bag that looks like the one you bid on:

Oh... And this is the American "MK VI" I'm talking about:
http://ebay1.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBA ... 06/i-1.JPG
US actually converted the "Box respirator" for their own needs in WWI, that is why you might find some MK VI bags that are not British looking, with "lift the dot fasteners" instead of the British snaps. By the way, I've placed a bid.
I'd better put a permanent pic of it before it vanishes from eBay.
From 1917:

Instead of vent holes these bags would have a spring inside them to lift the filter up from the bottom of the bag.
There you go!
