Hey Fedora and Marc-

 Your hats look GREAT in the movie! Outstanding. You can really tell the difference in quality between the Adventurebilts and the Herbert Johnsons of the other 3 movies. Good job! You should be proud!

I third it!

It's too bad, though, that this movie won't have the wonderful ambiguity and debates centered around the existence of the elusive "grey fedora." This time it's...pretty clearly grey  Oh, and 3K$, I think Steve and Marc put a wire through at least one of the brims just to trip you up :)

Nice hats. I was standing in line waiting to go in, and the French guy next to me, who was also dressed the part (well, approximately), asked me where I got my hat. I started to tell him about a guy named Steve Delk when he interrupted me and said (translated) "Oh, I wouldn't settle for anything less than the official one. So I went online and got the real thing--" at this point he took his Dorfman Pacific off (I think it must have been that) to show me the unlined interior with a stamped "Indiana Jones" logo on the inside. The hat was so light a tan it was something like the background of this forum!

It seems a lot of things can pass off as "SA" for the average joe. We had a guy in the theatre wearing a dead-on Crocodile Dundee hat and a black leather jacket, and he ended up getting all the praise because he brought a 6ft black whip and cracked it a few times  I love opening nights, a whole different crowd experience!

I loved the movie, loved the hats. Steve, Marc. I had my eye on those hats the whole time. They never were a let down, were very satisfying to look at. ... I need a hat with this Raiders, part II pinch. -- I saw 7 guys with "hats" in the theatre crowd of about 250. The only one that looked halfway good WAS a DP! All those poor souls without decent Indy hats, or no hats at all!! Who will help them!!?

Am I mistaken or didn't Indy's hat have a gold satin lining in the last scene? I don't want to say too much about plot here.......but the shot was onscreen long enough for me to say:

"Hey, that's gold..."
"Is it?"
Pause
"Yeah. I'll have to ask Marc about that"

Anyone else notice it?

I think I spotted the fabled too short hat twice. Once on the plane and once in Akator.

They just looked a little out of place, but otherwise wonderful bash. Quite a deal different to a raiders.

I also swear I saw the ribbon way forward of his ear in one scene.

Definitely ... Fantastic hats with their own character ... not Raiders, not ToD, not quite LC but KOTCS (I would say a touch of Raiders/LC). I like it!!!!

I wish I hadn't ordered it from IndianaJones.com -- I'd much rather have gotten it quicker through Amazon.

Maybe I should get it anyway. I can use two, can't I? :)

I had my AB on last night and one guy asked, "Is that real leather?" "Uh, no," I replied. "It's beaver felt. All the hats in the movies are felt hats."

I also felt pretty cool knowing I was the only one in the theater with the real hat on! They look superb in the movie!

Same thing for me...except there was another AB in the theatre, but just because one of my brothers has the same size head as me. Got lots of compliments on the hat. They looked great on screen too!

The gold was an illusion caused by the pure brilliance of the makers of the hat.

One question I have though....why did they choose the bash that they did?? I love it, I think its looks great...
Its similar to the LC bash though and was this bash requested for on-screen continuity or was that just how it was??

Funny you ask that...

I JUST read Indygear's new main site and there's a write up about the KotCS hat and the AB story on it. They mention how the hat was tweaked during the whole production process. I'd say go over and check it out, it's actually an entertaining read!

And over I go :)

read and now Im a little cranky... who is Bernie Pollack to say that Steve and Marc's hats were a caricature of the Raiders hats making them unacceptable
No offense to Marc or Steve, the CS fedora looks wonderful...but im now in that attitude of "who thehell is this guy"? hats not good enough, put the bag outside of the jacket, make the jacket from cow hide...mumble mumble :P

Yeah, Steve and Marc tried to get them to go with an exact Raiders look right from the git go, but they just wouldn't go for it. They had their own ideas about the hat and kind of continued in the LC direction. I guess none of them get the idea that Indy fans preferred the Raiders hat to all the others.

I think I read very early on that the liner was dyed by Bernie so it wouldn't get 'washed out' by the lighting in that scene. :?: I liked the gold liner!

No, I can't agree. We'd all be still arguing about the details, and the film would have NEVER been made!

The strap buckle alone would have taken too long to decide on! ...God forbid they ask a gearhead to get them a travel fedora "like the seaplane hat in Raiders."
