What a day, Wested HH arrived too!

Post by Hunter Jones »

Not only did my G&B replacement arrive, but so did my Wested horsey. The hh is very smooth to the touch but it feels like it will last forever. It is definitely a jacket to take some serious punishment. The horse is much heavier than the goat. The goat almost feels like lamb in comparison.

Oh and Peter got everything I wanted in this jacket, x-box stitching, gussets, black sliders. I must say that I love it. Now I need to determine an order for wearing my beautiful jackets.

Here are a couple of fast photos:

Thanks. It is a perfect fit, I think. I used my lamb Wested for the measurements and then adjusted them to the sizes I wanted. Essentially I added about 1/2" to the sleeves and the body.

The misplaced straps were on my G&B, which has since been rectified. The Wested is very nearly perfect as far as I can tell.

And I must say that the there is something oddly comforting about the weight and feel of the horse hide. If you ever get the chance to try one out I would recommend the horse hide. I think this jacket will probably see me into my dotage.

HH Wested looks great - congrats. Pretty sure that'll be my next jacket when I get round to it.

Cheers

Nice jacket, I contemplating ordering one myself....could I ask what size you ordered as I my concern would be the length of the jacket and sleeves as on previous photos I have seen of the Raiders jacket it can look a bit too short especially the length.
Would you also say that the horsehide is grainy or smooth finish all over and what type of zipper did you got with the nickel or the standard.
One final question, does the pocket flaps come with the snap fasteners as standard or did you have to request them.

thanks

Hey Marv.. I ordered a horse Wested over the summer, and yes the length of the jacket was a bit short. I ordered a 46 regular, and everything fit perfectly except the jacket was right at the beltline. I thought I could live with it at first, but I have since ordered another jacket with a longer length.

The HH was very smooth at first without pretty much no grain.. so smooth that I actually doubted it was horse at all. I'm used to 8lb HH motorcycle jackets with tons of grain and character and it had been a while since I had worn a lighter leather. After a few months of use the HH has gotten some nice grain and that "crinkling" that only HH can get.

If I were you I'd consider taking some measurements and giving them to Wested so you know the jacket will be perfect.

The HH is very smooth and heavy. I got the standard zipper and the snaps on the pockets are standard.

As for measurements I used my Wested lamb for reference and then added a little to the body length and to the sleeve length.

That's a fine looking jacket. That horse definitley feels and looks good. It sounds as if we did the same thing, ordering an expedition and a Wested horse back to back. And I agree, after wearing the horse, the goat feels like a featherweight.

Thanks for the feedback guys, from what you have all said I think the extra length is the way to go.
I would have normally ordered a 46" regular so I think I will got for the 46" long which hopefully should do the trick unless you you chaps think I should add a little more to the sleeves and back length, my height is around 5' 11" - 6'.
What do you think, I should be ok with that :)
