Thank you all very much! It means a lot coming from this esteemed crew.
I will say I can't wait to start mine!
Now to answer questions
How did you plug up the bottem?
First of all the pattern I downloaded had the stitch hole placement already layed out, so the first thing I did was mark where all the sew holes would be. Unfortunately the plug does not have those, so (this what I learned doing it once and will do it when I do it again) after I had the side sewn, I placed the plug in the end where I wanted it (don't worry, it should stay. it fits kind of snug) I took a pencil and
Lightly marked the plug holes across from the existing sew holes on the end of the holster so that they matched up with each other, about 1/8 to 3/16 of an inch from the plug edge. I then removed the plug, and took my awl to punch my sew holes. But instead of punching straight through I punched at an outward angle so that the tip of my awl came out of the leather just off of the edge/ corner of the rough, inside surface of the leather. I replaced the plug and when I sewed it I used a curved matress needle instead of a straight one (because those were the only curved needles I had at the time, but Tandy does have curved leather sewing needles) and just went in and out one direction, got to the end, and went in and out the opposite holes back the way I came to close up my stitches. You should end right next to where you started. Start with a little extra thread so you make sure have enough to tie off with....and uuuuum.....start on the back side so that your knot will be on the 'leg side' of the holster. I think that's it.
Confused yet?
Wow! Great work! I love the grooves!!!
Tandy Adjustable Groover ! I love that thing. Everything shall have Grooves!!!
PM me if you are interested... seriously!
Really? Far Out! Though I've already thought of a problem, I might have to use a standard belt loop piece on the shrunken holster I don't know how that will wind up looking. My sons belt is smaller than a standard Indy pistol belt and it fits exactly.
