Post here if you own a US Wings limited Indy jacket

Post by gmarthe »

After reading in multiple threads about the members of COW that have the new US wings limited edition Indy (ahem, Adventurer) jacket, I was wondering if we can start a list of people who own one. If you own a jacket just add your name to the list and after a reasonable amount of time we can see how many of the 90 we posess as a group. Remember - ONLY POST HERE IF YOU OWN ONE. I'll start.

I will go pick mine up from UPS tomorrow. I got a Large, but I'll probably have to exchange it for a Medium.

A point......keep in mind that though 'sold out', they DID keep back several examples of each size to have on hand for any possible jacket exchanges....so the actual number 'sold' is probably closer to 75 or 80 rather than the 90 'made'.

With that in mind, the percentage purchased by this crew would actually be higher.

I have a size small.

Here are the measurements on my small:

Pit to Pit = 22"
Sleeve length = 25"
Seam across back = 16.5"
Back Length = 27" (from seam where collar meets the back to the bottom)

Here is proof of the sleeve and back length measurements.

OK, my medium arrived today after doing the UPS dance. I had originally thought that I would be sending it back to get a small, but I don't think I will. It fits very well across the back and shoulders, but the sleeves are too long. It is a bigger, bulkier jacket than my lambskin LC Wested, so comparing them wouldn't be the right thing to do; they are just different types of jackets. This one is more of a Winter weight coat...NOT something I would want to wear whilst running about the odd Peruvian jungle....

Don't forget, I'm picking up mine today from the tailor. I had the sleeve brought up an inch or so (fairly easy, about $30). So with bucket cuffs, it's fairly easy for them to do, if they work leather that is.

I have a large (which is currently getting the sleeves taken up 1 inch) and my wife should receive her Medium next week (an exchange for a Large which was too big).

Agreed....Sgt. Hack and his crew are certainly first rate.

Wow, the sleeve and back length seem pretty long for a small. Are those for real? Where did you measure the sleeve from-to?
Thanks.

Hello,
I recently joined after having found this site, a few months back, while looking to update my ToD Stetson.
I figured I would register in order to let you know that I also received a US Wings limited edition in XL--back on April 17. It looks great and fits great and I wanted to mention how helpful Laurie at US Wings was in the whole preordering and shipping process  :D

One more question, please. What's the total sleeve length measuring from the base of the collar, down the shoulder seam and then to cuff? The 25" you came up with would be plenty for me (I have a clearance medium that's only 23.5"). However, I'm sure the shoulder seam sits higher on your small than it does on my medium, so the total might be too short anyway.
Thanks again.

To mgarrison02, I purchased this hat back in '84 or early '85 as I had been searching for a hat since Raiders, but nothing seemed to be on the market even remotely similar. When ToD arrived and Stetson put out ths version--which is supposed to be beaver fur felt--I jumped at the chance...

It has served me well, except now there is a little staining to the white lining and the ribbon is a bit water stained, so I recently ordered a replacement ribbon from Todd's in an effort to spruce it up.

Thanks Finbar,

I am looking at Todd's Costumes as well. They seem to have everything you would need to complete the Indy outfit, except for the pants, however, I see Wested carries those. What Price Glory has the gas mask bags. Todd's is currently sold out of them.
I wore my L.E. Indy jacket for the first time last night. It seemed a little stiff. Does anyone know if this will break in over time?
Thanks.....

it is leather.it will break it over time. :D just wear it alot and when not wearing it crumple it up and throw it in a corner instead of hanging it up in the closet.this will speed up the process

No problem, any excuse to put this beauty on. :)

If I measure from the middle of the collar at the base of the neck, around the neck, across the shoulder and down the arm I get about 34 3/4 inches.

If I just take the length of the shoulder and down the arm I get around 31 1/4 inches.

I hope this helps.

Hey Cowboy,

I took those measurements last night.
From center of the collar to cuff 37"
From the edge of the collar to the cuff 34"F
From the sleeve top seem to cuff 25.5,
8.5 inch shoulder seem.
