I was out practicing today and noticed that the braid on my DM's handle seemed to be slipping. What I mean is that I can actually twist it in place. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Any recommendations on how to fix it or slow it down?

I am curious why this would happen. The only thing(s) I can think of would be that (1) too much plaiting grease was used when plaiting the handle, or (2) the handle was plaited too loosely, or (3) too much pecards, or similar product was applied to the handle by the owner, or (4) a combination of the first 3. Maybe some of the excellent whip makers here could explain?

Of those four, I'm guessing it was option #3 that did it. I know that I had some bad exposure to the elements and gave it a good coating of Pecards afterwards.Cracker wrote:I am curious why this would happen.
