Ulloa, giddy as a schoolboy.

Despite just buying a lid and putting down deposit on another, I still anticipate being able to order an AB without waiting for it for a year. I don't think I could even bare that kind of stress to be honest. It's hard enough on me to wait for a week for a Christy's.

I spoke to the hatter yesterday. As it seems(!), we'll have a prototype before the premiere :D and perhaps we'll even be able to take orders from that date on :D :D :D

The rawbodies will be specially made for The Henry (which shouldn't surprise you considering our pickyness)

Will you be posting a picture of the prototype or will you only do it when you have the final version?

This is amazing news. Let me know when and how to send you the money and its yours. I also would like to know the cost, though it won't be a deciding factor in the purchase as I have already made up my mind.

Great news. I'll have to add one as a Raiders lid since my AB from Steve is going to be a KotCS.

Have you been able to confirm that it is THE factory with THE block?

You know, somewhere in this thread I'm sure the question was asked if the Raiders version of The Henry would be turned. Any ideas about that yet Steve or Marc? Just wondering.

I was under the impression that these would be sold open-crown, like the Akubras, so that the customer could crease / bash / style & "turn" to their own heart's desire, and that there would be no differentiation between a "Raiders" style or "KOTCS" style. :?:

I was sick of waiting first! :D No really, though, I can't wait much longer. I have a Keppler coming in the next few weeks and I am just as excited about this as I am about the Keppler, and that on is paid for!

GCR, I *think* that's still the plan. I haven't heard anything about "The Henry" not being offered with an open crown.

I believe there were some problems in that regard with the previous hat factory that Marc and Steve were talking to but not with this new one. :)

Correct me if I am wrong, but the Crystal Skull block is the same as the Raiders block. I think either Marc or Fedora said that if it did come bashed that all we have to do is play with it a little and we can get a Raiders bash.

The CS block is a "tweaked" version of the Raiders block. You're right about it taking very little effort to turn the CS hat into a Raiders hat. :)

Forgive me but I am fairly new to the knowledge of the varying differences from one film to the next...but do I understand it correctly that this "factory" hat can be adapted to any of the four films?

Kevin, I'm still fairly new to the nuances of all the different hats but I think I can safely say that turning an AB factory hat into a TOD hat would be a crime against nature!

To be specific there's a lot of taper in that hat whereas the others, as far as I know, have straight 'stove pipe' sides and the bash then goes from that starting point.

To get a TOD I'm guessing you'd wear it into a sauna (or wear it in Sri Lanka while riding an elephant!)

Happy to be corrected by those more knowledgeable...

Cheers

Thank you for the input  I was just curious about my options in the event I would be fortunate enough to own a Fedora from each of the four films :D

Actually, it depends on the scene. The only scene that has extreme taper in the hat is the plane scene. In most other scenes, the hat has either very little taper or no taper at all. Just look at the hat used on the suspension bridge.

Kevin, it all depends on what scene you want to recreate. With an untapered block, like the Crystal Skull block, it would better to bash the hat in one of the Temple of Doom scenes where there is little or no taper.

I remember Steve saying that the hats he has made since getting the new block (CS one) he has used it on all his fedoras-raiders or crystal skull.

I recall reading that using the new block, Steve and Marc were pushing a Raiders bash on Bernie but to no avail. It can definately be turned into a Raiders hat with minimal effort.

You're right, Dave. Coincidentally, TOD was on last night here in the UK and I was surprised that for the most part there wasn't any taper. It's strange that the scene with the tapered crown in the plane is before the complete soaking it gets in the river after which it probably would have taper when in fact it doesn't...if you see what I mean

Can't wait to see the hat, Marc.

Yeah, it kind of messes with the continuity of the film, but I'd rather see that hat for one scene before it gets soaked then for the remainder of the film after its soaking.

That is awsome, Marc. Hopefully we will be able to have it in our hands by the end of June. My birthday is in July, what a great birthday gift to myself that would be!
