I have a 42 otr, and they do add some inches into the body. I can't give you accurate measures though, as I water distressed my collar and it's not how it used to be anymore.

My Wested 42R OTR measurements are:

Wested "Standard" 42R OTR
Wested back: 25 1/4 inch
Armpit - armpit: 23 1/2
Collar - Shoulder seam: 6 3/4
Shoulder seam to cuff: 24
Stormflap: 22

Hope this helps

I guess it depends on the look and fit you are after. I like my jacket a little looser. But I believe if you are are going after the "Raiders" look then it should be a little snug when zipped up.
FYI,
My Wested Standard size 42 fits a little loose where as my Wested "80's fit" size 42 fits more snug.

Not sure if this helps but I'm a 41" chest so could have gone for a 40 or a 42. Chose the 42 and it fits pretty snugly like in Raiders but I can still wear a sweater under it. 40 would have been too small.

Hmm, not quite sure where and how to measure. But I assume all the OTR jackets are standard so kobol's measurements stand. I'd imagine Wested would give you the official measurements too.

Logic dictates that if you're 39 then a 40 regular OTR should be perfect. But I guess you're saying that isn't the case...

...custom?
