New and ready to get an Adventurebilt!

Post by Thousand Truths »

Hey guys! Been viewing the forums for awhile and finally got my account set up! I'm really looking forward to chatting about all the cool Indy gear! I will be ordering an Adventurebilt very soon and I'm undecided between two styles. I either want the popular Streets of Cairo version or the version Indy has at the beginning of Raiders when he takes the idol (what style is that called?). Anyone have pics of both these styles that they ordered from Adventurebilt? I'd appreciate it if you could share them as it would help me choose which style I want, thanks!

You mean the Idol Grab bash. That is my personal favourite and the style I have for my AB. For pictures of the various styles take a look at the FAQ at the top of this forum. It's really informative and has examples of both bashes I believe.

Welcome to the adventure.

Welcome aboard Thousand Truths, you'll love it here. Can't wait to see which AB style you go for, me I've always loved the scene where he's on the front of the truck.
If you do a little looking in the Fedora section you can find a thread that has one picture, but has multiple pics. I'm no good at finding these threads. Good luck.
How deep did you say your pocket were?

lol yea thanks guys! Yea I've been researching about all the Indy gear and your all totally right, not a cheap hobby! But totally worth it! I plan on spending some of my Economic Stimulus Payment to pick some of the gear. Yea I will check out the forum with the picks and will decide which to get...Streets of Cairo or Idol Grab Bash....hmmm.

Hey do you think you could post a pic of your AB with the Idol Grab? Cause I've seen alot of pics of the Cairo one but none of people who have the Idol Bash from AB, thanks I'd appreciate it.

A Thousand Welcomes, Thousand Truths!

Like you, I'm a first time caller, long time listener to COW, and my first fedora's going to be an AB (KotCS vesion). Of the two, I say go for the idol grab... that is if you're soliciting opinions.

The irony of the economic stimulus package is that I used mine to get another Wested (the one I have now no longer fits right, and the lining's falling apart...)

Somehow, I doubt overseas purchases like that were really the intent....

I just ordered one of the basic official hats so I'll at least have something to wear to the premiere along with my other Indy gear I'll hopefully have before then.

Alright I'm about to email Steve about my order and I just need a sizing question answered. What size is it when it's the hash mark just pasted the half inch mark? So would it be 22 5/8? If it was just passed 22 1/2?

Does the ruler you are using have divisions of 1/8 or 1/16? It is probably either 22 9/16 or 22 5/8.

Truths, I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I love the opening scene in Raiders, so that would be hard to resist, but the Cairo scenes are unforgetable as well. You may just have to snag both.

When I ordered mine from Steve, I just went with the CS hat, since it will be the exact hat as the new film. If I were to get another one, I might shoot for the Raven bar bash. This is an expensive hobby, but it seems that all the good ones are. :)

It'll be a long wait (I'm experiencing that now), but it will be well worth it I'm sure. :)
