I'm still waiting on my Tawny Regular old Fed I ordered back in February. I was told my size was backordered, expected in at the end of April.

Tell them what ever you want, Pike.

I'm respecting my word to Ron. You're not under any obligation what so ever to hold back. I just thought you'd want to respect Ron's concern about incorrect information getting out too. Apparently I was wrong.

Lock and load, Pike. Give them your news.

Time to join the ranks.... I just ordered my Fed. IV Deluxe a little over an hour ago. It'll be a nice little present to tide me over until my KotCS AB is ready. :)

I sure hope bashing the hat is as easy as it looks.

As for news, no news isn't necessarily bad news. :) Just out of curiosity, are there any pics of this hat bashed and with ribbon/bow?

Won't you be getting a Fed IV then? My understanding was that "old" Feds (Fed IIIs?) were discontinued in anticipation of the Fed IVs.

I don't know of any pics of the hat bashed, but there is a picture of the new bow here: http://www.hatsdirect.com/federation/sp ... tions.html (it's the one on the left).

I think he was wondering if there is a prototype or final pic of a complete new federation.

Ok, here's the official annoucement from Ron L:

Shipping commences this Friday, first in first out.

The moonstone color is expected next week, and those will be shipped then. Numbers will be limited until they get a handle on interest.

So the new Feds are in hand, and will be on their way to new owners on Friday.

I appreciate that, but I have a sneaking feeling that Piker already knew this was coming.

That said, technically, this is Pikers announcement too, but just me typing it for him.

HIGH regards, and thanks for keep your cards close to your vest, Piker! Ron appreciated it! :D

He said 'all stock', so I am assuming it's both. I'll confirm, though.
Nothing was said about black. You need to drop Ron a line about that.

Ok, it's easier to just cut and paste Ron's replies than retype them:
Yes we have both models to size 54 - 64, we also have Carbon Grey and Tawny Fawn in standard and Heritage Fawn in Deluxe. Heritage fawn in Deluxe will be 1 down in a 60 cause its going to find a home on my head. Makes a nice dress Fedora.

We have not ordered Black in the Deluxe at all as we still have the old stock to size 61. Size 54 will be a stock line now for the smaller noggins, we used to just keep one in stock and not advertise we had it.

The the first hats are being sized and steamed ready for shipping as we speak.

Sizing is running a little under the old Feds which is probably a good thing. There is not enough variation for us to be concerned, it is within the tolerance a hat would normally stretch and shrink with wear.

Cheers, Ron

Interesting post from Ron, Michaelson!

He says that they have Tawny Fawn in the new hat. However the Fed IV page only lets you order Dark Brown and the regular Fedora page only has the Tawny Fawn with the old price.

I saw someone's post of a Tawny Fawn Federation and liked how it looks. It would make a nice alternative brown from the AB that I already have on order. I really like the new height and the new ribbon looks great, so I don't want to get the Fed III.

I guess I'll have to be patient to see how it all settles out as this is all still so new that the Hatsdirect site hasn't been updated yet.

They're going to fit smaller than the old feds? I hope that doesn't cause a problem for me, because the 59 was too big for me and the 58 I ordered was cutting it pretty close, as my head is almost exactly 58. Do you think I should change my order to a 59?

I'm pretty sure other people preordered the tawny fawn. you might need to email them to order one before the site is updated.

I wish we'd get the all b****y clear. I have two on order and one is a 40th birthday present for my best bud and timings are starting to get tight! I can only imagine/hope that "very soon" really means that and these things are not too long in the offing. I am starting to get a little worried that mine wont be here in time

In regards to the post above about the tawny fawn, I was worried too when I preordered mine that they would not have it available and does not list the color on the new fed IV page, but I ordered anyway and in the comments section wrote I wanted a tawny fawn and they acknowledged they were going to be avialable and everything is good to go...they mentioned the heritage fawn in the deluxe, but I was not sure about the color, had seen the tawny fawn and knew for sure I wanted that color, wonder why they cannot have a tawny fawn in deluxe?

What colour next?

Now that I've asked out loud, I am wondering what colour I would order a Federation in while I wait for my brown Fieldmaster.

Chime in if you have a mind to.

Not just an updated picture, it now lets you order (not just pre-order) the hat. The color dropdown box also has choices for the already available colors. I ordered the Tawny Fawn.

This is PERFECT. I wanted the Fed to be my LC style hat and judging from what I see in the pic, It should do that quite nicely. :D :D

well, I have a Fed III deluxe and like the felt quality alot, but I like the new tawny fawn (which I perodered earlier) better than the heritage fawn, I just hope the req. fed is pretty close in felt appearance and qualtiy to the fed dlx. any thoughts from those who own both...

man, I just love that color..

My Eyes could probably be deceiving me but Does anyone have a better picture of what the true color of the fed IV is? It's said to have the same color as the current Fed Dlx, but with the exception of the ribbon, looks awefully close to the Adventurer only a tad llighter. Unless of course the Fed IV pic isn't taken at its best.

Well, from what i've seen is that the federations normaly look different (for the better) than the pictures shown on their sites. I personally think that the federation IV looks a lot better than the adventurer. Namely because there is a more difference between the color of the felt and the ribbon on the Fed IV as opposed to the adventurer.

Well The block btw the Fed and Adventurer is different (Fed is MUCH MUCH MUCH Better) I just want a more acurate color. Ron says that the Fed uses the same color as was used in the current Fed Dlx, which most people say is more accurate. I want to see what the current Fed Dlx looks like outside of the Hatsdirect site because the color of the Fed Dlx he has in the Fedora section does not match the color of the Fed IV. Can anyone provide more clarity?
