Hey all,
I'm new to Indy collecting and I'm looking to buy a jacket. From the information I gathered on the main Indygear page I think I'm going to purchase a wested jacket. My only question is what is the most SA material used for the outer as well as the lining? I'm looking for the Raider's style maybe a little longer in the body.
Thanks for the help in advance...
Most Screen Accurate Jacket?

I've gotta say that would be the Raider's jacket from Todd's Costumes in lambskin. Every detail looks spot on to my eye. My other Indy jackets always had something off in the styling somewhere that I have had to live with. When I got my Todd's jacket, I felt like a long and expensive quest finally came to a satisfying conclusion.
As to the length, you may need to go with the custom jacket rather than the standard. I was really lucky with the fit of my standard jacket, perfect length, but most of the ones I've seen posted here have ended up too short.
I'd be glad to put up some pics if you would like. I've had it for about 2 weeks (2 WONDERFUL weeks!).

EDIT: I should have paid closer attention to your post. I see that you are considering a Wested. Excellent choice! They have been making some great looking jackets these days. I agree with smith; lambskin and cotton for the right look and original materials for a Raider's jacket.

To be honest there's not a final word that I'm aware of with regards to the lining. If there is, you'll probably have to wait for the jacket update on the main site that I've heard is coming after the new movie. If I remember correctly, the original material for the lining was nylon. You can see clearly that it is nylon in the "stars" promo pic. However, the lining in HF's jacket was changed to cotton during filming (if I remember right). Of course this might all be wrong. In which case someone will correct me I’m sure.
The modern Wested “Silesia” lining will not hold up very well by most accounts that I’ve heard. The regular cotton lining is more robust. If you want a nylon (polyester) lining that’s there for good you have to go with a Gibson & Barnes. Cheers

My Wested it a good 8 years old. It's had plenty of use, but the only part that's worn out is the cotton lining. I've had to get my wife to patch the sides above the waist, and now I've noticed the cotton around the arm holes is going. So far the Silesia--if that;s what was used back then--lining in the arms is showing no signs of wearing through. I plan to get a goat skin Raiders next spring--I have a pre-distressed hide--and I'm seriously thinking of not getting any cotton lining.
