My new Akubra Adventurer (and another vital piece of gear)

Post by Luke Warmwater »

I recently ordered an Akubra Adventurer based on the review in this thread. It came yesterday, as did my S&W M1917:

I highly recommend the Akubra, it's really great hat for a great price.
The Smith is an original made in 1919 or so and carries "US Property" markings.

Based on the thread you said made you want to get a adventurer, I did not want to get one; however with your pictures, I am tempted to switch over ordering a federation to a adventurer.

Your fedora looks amazing! I love the overall shape of it. It fits you perfectly!

It just goes to show you, sometimes you need to get some that is not considered to be completely SA to get a SA look on you.

Thanks. I like the tight Raiders pinch.

The Adventurer really is the best hat for the money, IMO. It's only $125 and I got it in 10 days.

Heh, finally I'M the one influencing someone  lol. That's a sharp lookin' lid, in my opinion (no, I'm not saying that because I have an Adventurer) Great photo too.

I really like it as well. Its not the most SA fedora I've seen but it has a certain something. In any case, it suits you well. And that Hand Ejector is beautiful. Congrats on both pieces.

Looks good! It almost has that dusty look to it already, & that pinch looks super tight. Very nice! Of course I dig on the old Smith & Wesson, great looking revolver.

Cheers!

Hey there, first of all congratulations on your Akubra Adventurer, truly looks amazing! Seeing as I am interested in purchasing one of them Akubra Adventurer's like you have yourself I was wondering if that is also the way you receive it or do you have to bash them into the right model yourself?

Also, I've looked on the website hatsdirect.com to figure out which hat you actually purchased but I wasn't sure exactly which one the one on your picture is. Could you perhaps point this out? That'd be great!

Thanks a lot in advance for the info, I've been trying to find out myself but I failed :(

Thanks a lot for your help swcrazyfan! I see that you need to bash the hat yourself. Shouldn't be too hard, right?

No, it isn't. Morgan includes an instruction sheet on how to achieve the right Indy bash. Very helpful.

Yeah I think I saw those instructions on the website itself. How many tries did it take you to get it right?

I think that hat looks great. So what about it is not SA? I mean, it's pretty close right? Or what am I missing?

What hat is considered to be most 'SA' within this community?

The hat on Ford's head. Seriously, there are SO many ways to bash a SA hat that it's impossible to say only one is it! However, the Adventurebilt block is currently the most SA block for a SA hat, especially since they made the hero hats for IndyIV.

My Stetson is a SA hat, if you are looking at the Trimotor scenes in TOD, but it's still rather *meh*.
