My latest Wested (+new goat pics!)

Post by whiskyman »

I just can't seem to get an Indy jacket that works for me. They're either too big, too small or have some problem or other.
Here's my latest - I ordered an off the peg Raiders jacket which arrived today.
I dunno - are the sleeves too short???

To be fair, Gemma has promised to send a replacement tomorrow!
UPDATE: Goat has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Whiskyman,

I think the jacket looks great! hopefully they'll send you both sleeves. In the mean time I would throw a large Indy patch on the back, wear it over a wested denim jacket and jump on a motorcycle. You can start the first Indiana Jones motorcycle club! At least the color looks good

Best regards,

I honestly can't see how a response can be funnier than that. Nice work, Michaelson.

I think your new Indy jacket is just in a totally new way predistressed, in a totally new way...

Looks like you can put some CD's in those pockets. Well I guess it could be something nice to carry stuff in. In the upper left side a great pocket for a cell phone. I agree with Venkman must have got an Anakin order, either that or some guy just decided to give you a no sleeve Indy jacket with a whole lot of pockets.

You see what I mean about not accepting any more custom jacket orders
We have had to alter it so much it does not even look like a sleeveless raiders indyjacket. but if that' what the customer wants!
Seriously though it is just a postage error and the jackets have been swapped. Had me worried though.

Maybe that will be the new jacket for Indy V, when Mutt takes over the role. :)

My Wested goat arrived today! Thanks, Gemma and Peter for corecting the mix up so fast!

The reg 42 goat is a much better fit on me than my 80s fit 40 horsehide.
Interestingly, the goat - although a standard off the peg jacket - has higher, smaller arm holes like the 80s fit jacket. That's a pleasant surprise.
The new goat is significantly thinner than the old goat and feels like a slightly stiffer, tougher lamb. The only minor point is that the sleeve lining is a different material, polyester I believe, and not the usual satin. I can live with that though.
I'll get some pics up soon.

Okay, here are some pics.

This jacket has been out of the bag for about 2 hours. It's Wested's new off the peg offering in new goatskin. The goat is thinner than the old goat and very soft. It has a similar weight to wested's lamb and a good drape - which feels like it can only get better.
The arm holes are similar to the 80s fit of my Horsehide jacket but have polyester lining instead of satin. The same goes for the pocket lining. The pockets are larger than on my HH - which I'm pleased about as I can fit a diary inside. The straps have recrtangular sliders instead of D-rings.
The zip is not as heavy duty as Wested's regular brass zip, and the jacket seems to have the shoulder pads that the special offer lamb has.
The jacket felt a bit plasticy at first and was quite shiny. A quick blast with the shower and a bit of scrunching seems to have taken care of that already.

Most importantly for me - the fit is how I wanted it. The length is spot on.
Compare to my HH. It's about an inch and half longer - but that's a crucial inch and a half!

Whiskeyman, nice jacket. You say it's thinner than the last goat. You think it's tougher than Wested's nondistressed cowhide? I want to know if it'll stand up to more wear n' tear than a lambskin. I liked Peter's last batch of goatskin and was hoping the new one would be comparable.

It still feels tough. Although it's thinner, it still has a similar feel to the old goat.

Very nice fit mr P. The extra little bit of length makes it look far more comfortable.

And I can't say I can see the shoulderpads at all.

Seems like the new goat is a good middleground.

Looks very nice but I still don't know why Peter's pockets are so long, so rectangular.

That is one thing I did notice about the off the peg goat that I got, smaller higher arm holes. Didn't expect that. Makes the fit of the jacket a little nicer when moving ones arms. You can reach for something on the top shelf and not have the jacket hike up and out on you.

Cheers!

Whiskey Man, your Wested Goat is off the rack and not custom made? It looks slimmer, like the 80's fit. It looks great and you sound pleased with it. Would you recommend it? I want another Wested. I like my off the rack lamb but I don't feel Indyish in it. It's more like a dress jacket. I want a jacket that I can go into the Amazon in and feel like an adventurer.

I love the way your goat looks on you, and it looks very "Raiderish" if you catch my drift.
