A pleasant surprise from Gibson & Barnes...

Hey Gang,

I ordered my expedition march 21st. The customer service was excellent, but Travis said the jackets need to be made and will be ready to ship by April 8th. I said ok wt heck, I sent my $$ and began waiting anxiously for my prize jacket.

I arrive home today to find a package waiting for me. Lo and behold G & B has done a great service again. My expedition was, for lack of a better word,

I LOVE leather and the scent of it came right out of the package

The feel of the leather was like nothing I've ever felt. It was a bit stiff but I could feel the quality goatskin. I inspected the craftsmanship and I have to say I am very glad I bought the jacket and highly recommend it. The fit wasn't snug but I like it a bit loose as I wanted something I could wear 8/12 months.

Put a coating of Pecards leather 'creme' (it's really a jell) on the jacket. It will help it loosen up a LOT faster.

Very nice! Now you can see why I've been so vocal about my G&B and the quality of their products, not to mention the customer service.

I could use Pecards, but can the jacket soften over time by itself?

Will it help to also gain a little length like in the sleeves...I am thinking 1/2 or so??? Got mine wet and lost a wee bit.

Looks great! Would you mind measuring the pocket for us? From the top of the flap to the bottom of the pocket. What size jacket is it?

Dave Marshal at G&B says to wad it up, sit on it, throw it in a corner, etc.
It will break in faster.

Thanks Lee. Id rather let the jacket distress and soften naturally. I don't want to use creame so the wadding up sounds like something I could do just to soften it up enough.

Wait a minute...do mine ears deceive me or is Michaelson being criticized for artificially distressing his jackets!?

To be honest Solo, I'd just go for the creme. It doesn't artificially age or distress the jacket in any way, just helps ease the breaking-in process. I used it on my goat and it's been kicking around four years now with nary a sign of wear-and-tear. :junior: -M
