NEED FAST HELP!!! Wested measurement question-

Post by Kokopelli »

I've emailed Gemma also, but you guys might answer before she does- I have my order form filled out, and got to the back length.-
I'm measuring for the length- the site says "Measure from under collar to finish" -is that the point where the collar is attached to the back of the jacket, or actually up under the collar, where the collar then folds over on itself?
Thanks!

typically i've given the measurement from the seam, not from the fold. i'm about 5' 6" and have specified about a 26" measurement from collar seam to bottom of the jacket.

I measured from where the collar attaches to the back. And, I'm sure I read it somewhere, but, I can't seem to find where.

Thanks guys- I measured from the attachment point of the collar to the jacket- and asked them to adjust if needed.

Imagine you are wearing a t-shirt, it's where the collar rests on your neck.

oooh- then this would be under the collar, at it's highest point before it folds down onto itself then. Thanks

what do you call that ribbed, round thing at the neck? Isn't that a 'collar'?

The proper back length is measured from the collar seam, straight down
the back, to the bottom hem.

The collar seam is the point where the collar meets the back. Where
these two pieces of leather are sewn together is where you should be
measuring from. You DO NOT measure ANY part of the actual collar.

If you measure from some other point HIGHER than the collar seam as you are
talking about, your jacket will arrive and it will be TOO long for what you
want.

Strange, they never used to ask for that measurement before.

if i recall ordering my first wested, they just asked for your height and gauged the size from that......doesn't work well if you have a normal sized torso but short legs

You only have to provide this information if you want a back length that
is different than what they have posted for each size jacket.

Some people require longer jackets as they have a longer torso, but
don't need the added sleeve length that comes along with the longer
body on a jacket that is a "Long" or "Tall" size.

Same for shorter torso people. They may have a short torso, but long
arms. So they would need a custom back length, as the regular might be
too long for their body.

In my case, I am 6'-1" tall, with a longer torso but I don't need the
added sleeve length of a long size.

So, if the vendor that I am ordering my jackets from can make the
back length to what I need, along with the arm length, then I always
get the back length of a long size, but the sleeves of a regular size.
