Bullwhips are still dangerous...

Post by zohar »

But at least I'm not hitting myself anymore 8)

I had my wife take some videos of me doing the cracks that I hurt myself with a week and a half ago. Having somebody take a video of you is a really good practice tool, as I can already see that I need to bring my arm up more, and crack more off the ground.

By the way, the face is all healed. I can't even see a scratch any more. I doubt it will even scar.

Videos are about 3.4mb each.

Nice videos, I found that taking them helps me out too. I can watch and see how I can improve and compair what I did to my instructional videos. I'm glad you face healed up alright, that was a nasty lick, I hope I never hit myself like that. I always wear saftey goggles just in case though. Keep it up.

I couldn't tell you. The whip in the video is an 8 foot kangaroo 12 plait by Jim of EC Whips.

Perhaps somebody more knowledgeable will share their experience.

Absolutely! When you break the sound barrier, it does go POP!

One time I was in Dallas with the Whip Enthusiasts and one gentleman tied a tiny nylon string as a popper to my whip. It is the same nylon cord used for mini-blinds. I was suprised that the sound it made was a much shorter pop than the popper that was on there previously.

As a sidenote, he said that he used those type of poppers for target pratice. After which, I got to try my hand at breaking some spaghetti. It reminded me of HF showing off during the filming ToD.

Cheers,
Pyro

It was in the Making of The Temple of Doom video that Minnesota Jones had. He taped it off of PBS. I remember watching it long before I found IndyGear.

From what I remember, the scene has the camera positioned behind a few leaves and you hear "Crack!". Suddenly, one of the leaves disappears and there is HF and some other crew people standing around cheering and you can hear other people off-camera cheering as well.

I'm surprised eBay is allowing this auction to go on. He's selling a copy of a program HE taped off of PBS, not an official, purchased PBS tape, so essentially he's breaking copyright law and making a profit off of a pirated program, in public no less! :? Regards. Michaelson

I agree with Sergei, they sound the same. When I was over at Indydawg's, we cracked my Tim Bass nylon, his Stenhouse, as well as Dakota Ellison's and Dale's D.M. whips. They all sounded the same to me!

Regards,

I.J.
