My Todd's standard indy jacket...

Post by gi_canuck »

Here are some photos of my Todd's standard indy jacket... I ordered an XL, but it's really tight around my shoulder and the sleeves feel really short too... (I am 5' 10" about 200 lbs) thinking about getting an XXL and sell this one... what do you guys think? Does it look too small on me?

It looks good, but it does look a bit too snug.

Wow. Look at that pocket placement... I had always thought they should be centered on the storm flap, not the edge of the storm flap.

It does look a little on the small side.

The sleeves do look a tad short. If they feel that way, they probably are too short.

Yeh, that's way too small for an XL. I suspected his XL was on the small side by the measurements he gives on the website so I ordered an XXL. I'm 6'2 - 200lbs. Now I'm worried an XXL will be too small. It's supposed to get here Thursday, but I'll miss the UPS guy for the signature so probably won't get it until Friday.

Looks nice but it is a bit small, unfortunately. Strange. I'm about 5'11 and close to 200 pounds and usually L is what I wear, or between 44 and 46.
That looks like its a 42 or a very small 44 (Aero size 44).

I have a horsehide from Wested 44 that fits great, a Wested lamb 44 80s Cut that's not only cut narrower but also shorter in length (!) than my horsehide, so I guess sometimes sizes can vary even from the same company.

Maybe Todd will exchange it?

Does anyone know if the jacket height has increased by an inch? The latest batch of XL and XXL are supposed to be an inch taller.

Sweet

I wouldn't say that you needed a bigger jacket so much as a longer one. Cheers

I am 5'10", 200lbs... Chest is 46. Sleeve from shoulder to my thumb knuckle is around 24... I could use good two inches on both the chest/length and the sleeves. According to Todd's site... the measurements for the new XL and XXL are like this....

Sleeve Chest FITS Length.
XL 35½" 50" 42"-44" 25¼"
XXL 36¼" 52" 44"-46" 25¾"

Assuming that the XL size hasn't changed and XXL is a new addition... then XXL is the best fit for me as it's pretty much 2 inches bigger in every aspect as I want it to be... XL is definitely for size 44s for sure. Well, if any of you guys are interested in buying it off me. PM me, I'll give you a good deal. I'll probably put it on Cairo Bazaar and see if anyone's interested... Cheers!!

I feel your pain! I too am 5'11" and about 205 and this jacket definitely does not match up to the US standard size jackets. I wear a 44R in a dinner jacket and this definitely is not the same size according to the chart.

I haven't measured the actual jacket but probably tonight. When I wear it zipped up it feels like I am wearing a motorcycle jacket. Wearing it open it seems to fit without a problem.

The sleeves are about 1 inch too short but only when my arms are raised.

Have you thought about exchanging it?

I thought Todd had said previously that since it was an off-the-rack item, that was possible?

I could be wrong, but it is worth checking into.

Definitely a bit short in the sleeves and length.
I'm sure Todd will exchange it. I just had to return mine and Todd was great about it. He did say that their latest batch of jackets are 1" longer in the sleeves and body which may help. I have the opposite problem, broad shoulders and narrow waist make the jacket too big when zipped....time to go custom.

Slightly small I would say as well, it's kind of strange, I'm 5 11 and the large fit all right, I guess it's because I'm smaller-boned.

Nah, I don't think I'd bother trying to exchange it... I'd rather keep it either for my friends/family or sell it to another COW member who'd wear it. who knows I might lose some weight and go back down a size... Cheers!!

Looks too small and too short. Your wings suits you a lot better.

Nice to be able to put a face to the name after all this time.

Hey, you're in Kamloops too! I think this is the first time I've run across someone in a forum from Kamloops. I wish I were bigger, I might consider getting it (it would save me a lot of headaches in the "what jacket should I get" anguish) but I'm only about a medium size.

 I'm out in Westsyde. I'm actually trying to get OUT of IT, there's no money in it if you're just a generalist like me. So I hope you're specializing in something!
